Answer:
I don't believe a pug would be able to squeeze through it. My cats that are around 8-10 lbs have squeezed through on the side by the wall where the extension is used and it is a little wider, but they have a difficult time. But my 11lb Pekingese would not fit due the different shape in her body.
Hope that helps!

Answer:
I don't think so. I vertical bars are about 2 inches apart. The widest space is where the panels and gate join and that is only about 3 inches.

Answer:
Yes, all mounting hardware is included. However, we have been using it for a month with just the pressure mounts and didn't drill into the wall and it is extremely sturdy this way as well.

Answer:
I don't think it will extend enough for an 83 inch doorway, but I would check with Home Depot or the manufacturer. The opening we used it in was 49 inches, and we had 2 panels left over.

It comes with extra extensions that would allow it to fit a very wide opening. We have standard width stariways and only used the narrowest pieces. Don't know if you can buy more than what comes in the box.

Thank you for your question. There is not an option to add additional extensions to this gate. I think you would want to look at something more like the Summer Infant Custom Fit Gate ( Item# 07164BZ) which accommodates openings from 65"-86" wide.

Answer:
It probably could be used outside, however it is still metal and I don't think the coating on it is rust resistant....so it depends on if it was in an area that it would get wet and/or rained on.

Answer:
We have it mounted outside at the top of the stairs on our back deck. We only had to oil the bottom latch after one of our toad strangler rains. No rust has appeared anywhere on the gate.
We don't know how it will work in the snow, as the bottom of the gate sits on the deck.

Thank you for your question. This was intended for use indoors and is made out of metal. I would suggest a rust coating be added if being used outdoors, but please note again that it was intended for indoor use.

Hi Jane! i think you will need to take it in during the winter months so it doesn't rust. I'm not sure of the rust coating.
Enjoy it! Karl

36 in. Swing-Closed Child Safety Gate is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 66.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good looking gate I like the look of the gate. The pressure mount is secure but we used the bolts on one side where there's Sheetrock. The gate swings closed every time. I can open it with one hand. Install seemed easy. The only thing that worries me is the narrow opening. My husband and I can fit through it, but if you're carrying a lot or if someone who is plus-size or wide-hipped tried to use it, I think it will be a tight fit. I sometimes turn sideways when carrying the baby out, which is awkward. However it certainly does the job at the top of the stairs and I feel safe letting my baby crawl or zip around when it's closed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Doggie Detour We installed this gate to keep our 3 Shitzus out of an office space off of our foyer. The gate is well made to fit almost any size opening and elegant enough to not distract from a beautiful room. The automatic door close function is an awesome plus.
