Answer:
Yes. These dunks are designed to be placed in watering troughs, so they should not be harmful to wildlife. They are composed of a bacteria that selectively eats mosquito larvae. However, I would not personally drink the water due to concerns about upset stomach.

If your pond has a pump then it shouldn't have a mosquito problem as mosquitoes breed in stagnant or non- moving water. I haven't any experience using dunks with a pump and don't know if they would damage it. If leaves and such do no harm then i don't think dunks will. If the pump was off long enough for some larvae to hatch then maybe put in some dunk until they're dead (they just seem to disappear), Read More

But I think the pump and moving water should take care of any current and future larvae without the need for dunks. I hope this helps. Read Less

Mosquito dunks are only needed in stagnant water, since the still waters are the preferred breeding waters of mosquitos. Water that is in constant motion from a waterfall pump will not provide these breeding conditions.
The motion of the water may shorten the effective period of the dunks, since they will dissolve more quickly in moving water.

However, "blind mosquitoes" are not really mosquitos. They are in the midge family of insects. However, they do lay their eggs in water.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by MOSQUITO DUNKS really work These MOSQUITO DUNKS really work and they are safe for birds and pets. They are not toxic and work as a biological control. We live on the Texas gulf coast and we have been using them for at least five years. Since we have been using them we haven’t seen a wiggle tail in or bird baths. We normally add ¼ of a “dunk” per bird bath every six weeks throughout the 9 months of summer we have here. The dunks come in a sealed up bubble pack that lets you open and remove them one at a time. We store all the unopened and opened dunks in an airtight plastic bag. They will crumble if you let them get damp. September 29, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by What's "12 in." about this?? Title of this product says it's "12 in. Mosquito Dunks". Huh? But I've used these in my pond and they work well. April 14, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Mosquito Dunks The best product for small yard fountains, birdbaths, and rain barrels. Haven't had a problem with mosquitos since using this. Some seem to disappear quicker than others, but regardless haven't had any problems whatsoever with larva since using. Just make sure to have some way to secure the dunk if you frequently change the water. (i.e. birdbaths) July 19, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by dunks work! They really do work. Haven't found anything better besides eliminating standing water itself. I'll even siphon with aquarium hose if I cant dump out. I refuse to put poison and endanger non-offenders. Dunks beat putting vegetable or olive oil, too. Not as messy and last at least as long or longer, I wish they cost less $, and/or maybe more than just one brand or package size to choose from. In rainy weather, of course, need to use more, and more often. I also think they have a shelf life or need to be stored better than just in the package they come in. The dunks left over from fall until spring didn't work, wigglers still alive after two days. So I bought more, and they worked by the next morning. Guess if I had thought about what they're made of I would've stored left over dunks in a baggie and perhaps in the fridge during the winter break. Seems that just leaving in unsealed package, even though inside the house, they become ineffective. June 29, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Does not last I bought this product and did a test in several 5 gallon buckets. Each of the buckets were full of mosquito larvae. I started the first bucket with a very small amount of dunk, a mid amount in 2nd bucket and a larger amount in the 3rd bucket. The next day the larvae in buckets 2 and 3 were dead. I was impressed however it only lasted a week and a half. After a week and a half larvae were in the buckets again. I will try a different brand of Bacillus. June 11, 2011
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by No mosquitos....so I guess it worked well broke them up a bit and tossed them in different areas. No mosquitos to speak of around the house so it appears they worked great! July 1, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Mosquito Dunks Work Great! We have two fountains in our yard. They breed mosquitos aplenty. Mosquito Dunks floating in them kill the larvae quite successfully and quickly -- and are harmless to out pets. Last year we ran out of Mosquito Dunks -- as a result I got Stage III West Nile virus, lost a month of my life, and almost died! Eight hours in the emergency room is no picnic. We'll never run out of Mosquito Dunks again! June 26, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Geat product I have 4 67 gal rainbarrows. I use 1/2 a dunk in each once a month and they work. May 8, 2014
