Can you put a trolling motor on the back?

Asked by: shorty
I use my trolling motor on the back. I had to make an alteration to the boat to use it, but it only took a few minutes, and works perfectly. I used a 1 1/4" bit to drill a hole near the top of the battery compartment, sanded down a small piece of 1" PVC pipe, wedged it into the hole & caulked both sides. works great, and you don't have to leave the battery compartment lid ajar.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Nice little boat but leaks a ton, and other small problems My boat is used mainly by my kids with a 9.9mph engine and a minn Kota 55. It came missing the rear pole Lite. Contacted HD and KL and crickets - never sent one. The battery box has two hole in the bottom so after about an hour use the battery box has 3 inches of water in it. After each use we have to drain the boat. If I could do it again I would of gotten a metal boat and converted it with seats. I guess you get what you pay for.

I got it for my 12 & 9 year olds for Christmas & they've used it a ton already (Jan. 10). There are 2 flaws, in my opinion, that caused a 4 Star rating, rather than a 5: 1. The live well doesn't fill automatically. Its not a big deal, but if anyone fishes with minnows, you'll need a minnow bucket plus another bucket to fill your live well, in an already limited space (I used a 5g minnow bucket with an aerator, that I slide into a 5g Home Depot bucket, for filling, to save space). 2. This one is the actual design flaw that is a pretty serious one, especially if you have young kids on the boat. To run a motor from the stern, there is no hole cut out to run the wires to the battery compartment. The way the boat is configured, you have to leave the lid to the compartment slightly open to run the motor, which doesn't leave a flat platform to stand on (a pretty serious tripping hazard for kids, in my opinion). It was an easy fix, but I would have preferred to have it done by the maker. I drilled a hole with a 1 1/4" bit near the top of the battery compartment, cut a piece of 1" PVC irrigation pipe about 2 1/2 or 3", sanded it just enough to get it small enough to wedge into the hole, then caulked both sides. It works perfectly & the only way water will get into the battery compartment is if there is 1' of standing water in the boat, in which case, you've probably already figured out that you're in trouble. I also did a little "kid-proofing" to the wiring, but I don't want to write a novel here. If interested, send me an email & I will send pics/descriptions of what I did.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from KL Industries Pro 120 Fishing Boat I Have owned this boat for approximatly 8 years and has been launched a minimum of a dozen times a year. The boat is very easily launched, very comfortable after several hrs of fishing, I have yet to fill all the compartments located within the decks. I use both a 40# thrust electric and a vintage 10 HP Johnson for power. I mounted rod holders and now they come standard. I have had several boats in the past but this has been the easiest to maintain and would highly recommend to a friend.

For under $2,000 (I got it for less than $1,500 on a Black Friday sale), this boat is an unbelievable steal! It is fully rigged with lights, an aerator, seats, and wiring for a trolling motor. The platforms are sturdy as all, and you can easily stand and move about the boat while fishing. I live on a long brackish canal in South Florida, and the boat is PERFECT. I bought a travel model Torqueedo 1003 motor (3 HP equivalent), but you can put up to a 15 HP gas motor on it, with a trolling motor on the front. Honestly, this boat, at this price, blows out a Tracker or similar boats which cost a a ton more. Two people can fish very comfortably.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Mini Bass Boat Ever Boat is excellent in any body of water. Very stable with enough room for two and plenty for one. Boat handles very well driven by a outboard and can take a beating. Trolling motor mount is spot on and easy to control. Overall great boat. Would recommend to anybody.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great boat, delivery time and method not so much. Boat itself is awesome and you cannot beat the price or the free shipping. The time it took to get the boat was about 6 weeks. It ships via motor freight and is then delivered via a local delivery service. Ours arrived with one of the metal rails on the side bent during transport and with several scratches. The damage was not worth waiting another 6 weeks for a new boat, so we are keeping it. We have had it on the water several times now and is better than expected. We have taken it with 2 adults and 2 kids without a problem. The boat is heavier than we thought- it takes two people to get it in the truck.
