Customer Questions & Answers

From what I unerstand, even though this is listed as an "elect. mower", it is considered a"push mower"? Would this be hard for an elderlly person ?

I know reg. push mowers are too hard to push for an elderly person, but reading the description and reviews for this mower, it sounds like it would be easy to push for an elderly person. Do not want to purchase if too hard to push. Would rather pay a little more for a reg. elect mower. Help me out w/this decision please.
Asked by: confused
It is definitely a push mower and takes strength to push it in thick grass, not as easy as I thought it would be. If you have blade grass may be easier. But you still can't let it go more than a week between mowings. I will probably be returning as it is harder to push than I thought it would be.

what does maximum cord length mean? you can't use a longer cord or it won't function well? the larger version of this has a max cord length of half t.

Asked by: Carol
The 100ft, 16 gage cord should be OK for a 12 amp motor. Officially, you should be using 14 gage at 100 ft, but there is some safety margin built in. A longer or thinner wire cord has more electrical resistance and will deliver a lower voltage to the mower than what is coming out of the electrical outlet the cord is plugged into. When an electric motor (like in your mower) is driven by that lower voltage, it draws more current. It will certainly draw a lot more current if something jams the blade while power is turned on. If it draws too much current, it will smoke the motor. Be careful that the blade is always free to rotate. If it gets jammed, turn off the mower and unjam it immediately. If you want to use a cord longer than 100ft, you should use a thicker wire . . . 12 or 14 gage. A better description of what happens is at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brownout_(electricity)

does this mower come with a battery--what else is needed to make this mower go?

Asked by: Chris
It is electric, so it requires an OUTDOOR-rated electrical extension cord, and it is very important that you get the correct gauge (thickness). That depends on the length of cord you need, so check the manual. You could damage or ruin the motor otherwise. I think it's 14/3 for a 50-ft cord and 12/3 for 100-ft cord (smaller #s = bigger thickness/gauge). But do NOT take my word for it. Check the manual. And do NOT hook two cords together. Tha's a fire hazard.

is it working on electric also?

Yes, ELECTRIC ONLY. Not a gas powered mower.

When you add this lawnmower to your shopping cart, Home Depot (even Amazon) will also suggest that you purchase a 100 feet 16-gauge extension cord in order to use this lawnmower if you do not yet have one. You should not buy the suggested 16-gauge extension cord just to use this lawnmower. The manual, even the manufacture's website, said that you should use a 14-gauge extension cord instead. Why, using the 16-gauge extension cord may cause this lawnmower to under perform at lawn mowing and may cause the motor to overheat, which is an $100 investment you may not want to risk.

It was very close to out-of-the-box ready to use, it is lightweight, and very easy to clean after use. I recently turned the soil and planted new grass seed in my yard and with it being new grass, I was quite nervous about the first cuttings. I was fearful of ripping the grass out of the ground and leaving deep and damaging tire ruts as I mowed. This lawnmower cut my grass very clean with no ripping and the lightweight did not cause tracks in the ground.

Can be set to 3 cutting levels. I have Tall Fescue grass, and it cut through that no problem. Bag is easy to empty. Easy to use and very lightweight, which was important for me, an older woman. This will pay for itself in a month of Lawn Care Fees. Buy a bright, non green cord in recommended gauge, and give the machine 2 seconds to bring the blades up to speed. Off you go. I would purchase this again.

I did not find the blade that sturdy cause I hit some rocks with it and the blade is already bent and notched in places. It is light weight and easy to handle. It has safety features I did not know till I got it and they can be good to use if you have to. If you get into too heavy of grass while mowing the machine will tend to stall out but if you lift the front end it will return to normal without restarting it. I have had it about a month now and used it one time. With the wrinkles I found in it I am still satisfied.

I am writing this because I was almost dissuaded from buying the mower from some reviews. I ordered it Monday, it came Friday. My 13 year old had it put together in 15 minutes (without reading the instructions). The lawn was 4-5 inches over cut level and this thing put it down without issue. Pros: Extremely light and easy to handle. Really, I can pick it up with one hand. Simple and logical. It feels like a tinker toy but doesn't seem to be cheaply made. Plenty of power (though I did go a bit slow through the high grass, maybe a step per second?). It will easily cut full speed through a normal lawn. Maybe a bit quieter than other electrics I have owned, and way quieter than gas. Bag is easy to remove and replace. Very pleasantly surprise and pleased, though of course no word on longevity yet. Cons: None really. The bag is smallish but so is the mower!

NEEDED TO REPLACE MY GAS MOWER AND DIDN'T WANT TO SPEND $400 + ON A NEW ONE. $95 SEEMED REASONABLE. I HAVE TO SAY I'M IMPRESSED. WE FINALLY GOT SOME RAIN HERE AND THE LAWN (AND WEEDS) TOOK OFF. WASN'T SURE IF THIS LITTLE MOWER COULD HANDLE IT. TOOK IT LIKE A CHAMP , NO STALLING OR BOGGING DOWN AT ALL. THE BONUS WAS THIS MOWER IS EASILY LESS THAN HALF THE WEIGHT OF MY GAS MOWER AND VERY EASY TO MANEUVER AND DID A BETTER JOB. THIS MORE THAN MAKES UP FOR THE SMALLER CUT WIDTH ( 14'' VS. 21'') . ALL THIS MAKES THIS MOWER A GREAT DEAL. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS MOWER TO ANYONE UNLESS YOU HAVE CRAZY TALL GRASS ( JUST WEED WHACK IT DOWN TO A COUPLE OF INCHES AND YER GOOD TA GO). I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS MOWER

It cut my overseeded winter lawn very evenly and without the damage to the grass blades that the garden service's gas powered machine did. Only problem is managing the cord around trees. It cut very close to a brick border so using the string trimmer is not needed every time. Small volume of the grass catcher was not a problem, as it is so easy to detach and empty. I think In paid a bit too much, but it is a good product especially for small areas.

This one meets all my expectations. It cuts the grass well and it is easy to clean. No messy gas. I bought the 14-gauge red cord which is suggested by the manufacturer. I also bought 2-year protection plan for $12 just in case any bad luck happened. But so far so good!
