Customer Questions & Answers

How hard is it to telescope

Asked by: maddog
Very easy - there's a collar that you turn to unlock to telescope the saw, and then turn it back to lock again.

How far out does this model extend once it has been extended to it's maximum?

One of the answers on this review said that this model does not extend?
Asked by: Kingsland
The length of your reach. Once you have extended it to its maximum, that's all you'll get out of the saw. However, If you look at it when it is fully retracted, you get about 3/4 of the length of the bottom section to work comfortably. Sun Joe says that length is 9.4'.

8 in. 6.5 Amp Electric Pole Saw is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 111.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to use I am 85 years of age and was able to use the Sun Joe fully extended with no problem. Took down not only branches but 7 to 8 inch round limbs. I had another brand before this one and was to heavy to handle.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect This is a great saw. Wacked some 6" limbs reaching out from my roof. I'm very happy with it. I'll use it next on my high sky grass (palms)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super easy to use and cuts with no problem I bought this to trim some cedars and some hornbeam trees. They cut so easily I was amazed. We had several companies quote 200-300 to trim 1/2 of what I ended up doing. For anybody that says this cannot cut branches well, I would ask them to make sure the chainsaw head is put in properly because if it's backwards it will not cut anything. When you set it up properly this tree trimmer is the best for the money you pay. I cut some seriously large sections and it never jammed or anything. Just make sure you keep the oil tank topped up when cutting lots and brush the chainsaw clean after you finish. You will not be disappointed with this tool!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Pole Saw Easy to set up. Great feature is the telescopic handle which allows you to get the saw in the exact place you need it. Cuts easily and cleanly. The only downside is that it is a little heavy to use when the pole is fully extended. I guess most others would be too, to be honest and most don't have a telescopic handle, so may feel heavy all the time.

Worst part, the cap for the oil didn't fit well and the oil sprayed out all over my garden. Tomatoes, beans, cabbage, squash, etc... all covered in oil, as well as my dog.

I was pleased with how quickly it cuts with the new chain. Invest in a very good pair of goggles before using above your head. I found it very easy to handle both extended and retracted by letting the branch bare the weight of the saw assembly. The saw eases its way through the branch with little assistance. Cutting (by pulsing the trigger) just a little at a time towards the end of the cut provided more control over how the branches fell. I actually used it to cut-up some rather large branches as well. The nicest thing about this saw is that even though I don't have money to waste, I was not too worried about getting aggressive with it and having to replace it. Wasteful, I know. But I'm just saying it was comforting. Clean-up is easy, as is the re-tensioning of the chain after/during use. I wish they had chosen an allen head over a slotted screw head for the tensioning. Providing a nice T-handle for maintenance would have been very impressive. Still, I'd buy another.
