Customer Questions & Answers

I have some flower beds with old mulch..would this product bind up?

Asked by: debating
I've used this to spruce up my flower beds with wood chips. It works fine. When it does bind, it is easy to clear. Make sure you use the proper gauge extension cords.

How do I get the handle height mechanism to remain short? It clicks into place at it's extended length, but won't hold when I bring it down to short

Asked by: Mozart
Dear Mozart, The tiller will only shorten to the height it was packaged at. There is no way to lock it in place at a shorter height.. My apologies for the inconvenience.

Customer Reviews

Aardvark 2.5 Amp Electric Garden Cultivator is rated 3.8 out of 5 by 65.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from WAY too weak. Powerless. 2.5 Amps = useless I purchased this online and within 5 minutes of using it, I knew I needed to return it because it is so weak. It needs more power. You barely push down on the ground and it stalls. You can basically cultivate about 1/4" of packed dirt on a pass. If you want to break up 3 or 4" of packed dirt, this isn't going to do it even after 50 passes. It cannot break a root that is hair thin. A tulip would make this thing stall. 2.5 amps didn't really help me so I'll try to put the power of this into terms you can understand. We all understand horsepower, but this would have to be measured in mosquito power. 2.5 amps = 14 mosquito power

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cheap and I used it for more than cultivating. I hated that I had to wait for it to be shipped in so I can start growing grass again. However, I planted 15 tree shrubs and cultivated my yard to plant seeds within 3.5 hours. I also used it to dig up a fire pit for my sons birthday party on the 25th. Overall its better than renting this one from home depot. My son took this and got paid to do other peoples lawns. Its great for the price and you don't have to worry about gas just plug it in and go. P.S. I'm thinking about digging a hole with this later and putting a pond in. Remember I am disabled I can't lift heavy things or or use a shovel. This is really awesome to have for now and later.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product! I had concerns that this tiller was not really "Up to the Task" but I was proven wring. It simply works great, is easy to operate and Gets the Job Done. It is well built and looks like it will last for quite some time. Make no mistake, this unit is no substitute for a heavy duty gas powered unit, if you need to break hard ground down to six inches or so. It does a great job in scratching up the surface if you want to plant grass seed, for instance, in a perpetual bare spot. It would also do a great jot of gently tiling between the rows of a planted garden. I highly recommend it..

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great machine This is the best power gardening tool I have. I am 92 and still maintaining a very large landscaped yard. This cultivator allows me to do the weeding and cultivating much faster and easier. It's size permits me to work easily and safely around flower and shrub beds in a fraction of the time It takes with hand tools. I highly recommend that you add this model to your store stock. I have loaned it to others who have praised it's ability to work as advertised.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Avoid this product Avoid this product. I tried using this product on a small (3 foot by 10 foot) area of dirt behind my shed in order to prepare it for seeding. The dirt was already moist from the rain we had the day before, so it wasn't that hard or clumpy. I followed their directions by first going backwards then forwards in a straight line with the tool. I was able to make a single row this way successfully. When I went back to the top of the area to begin my next row, as soon as the tines of the tool would just touch the soil, the tines would stop moving. I attempted cleaning any dirt from the tines (not that there was that much from only one pass) but got the same results. The tines would turn fine if I held the tool in the air, but as soon as it touched the ground they would stop instantly. Needless to say, I immediately boxed up the tool and returned it.
