Product Overview

The Sun-Mar Centrex 2000-NE is designed for medium to heavy cottage or light residential use. The Centrex 2000-NE is a non-electric unit for those with no continuous 110-Volt power supply. All Sun-Mar composting toilets incorporate a patented Bio-drum which ensures fast and odorless decomposition. Saves thousands of gallons of water, while recycling waste into soil. The unit is shipped fully assembled. A one pint flush toilet is required for use with this unit (sold separately). Seasonal capacity: 6 adults or families of 8. Residential use: 3 adults or families of 5. A waterless option is available for this system. This configuration requires the separate purchase of the Sun-Mar Dry toilet and the Sun-Mar A/F Waterless kit.

This is just the tank. You will also need either a waterless toilet or a 1 pint flush toilet.

How large are these tanks, and then how are they pumped out? Will the EPA or DNR allow these on my 40 acres? I don't know that they will let me spread the waste on my property. I assume the toilet has to get mounted somehow to something as one could not sit and balance on it the way it is? HELP! Home Depot! How's about some answers?
Asked by: Woody
Hello Woody, The composters are rated based on the number of users. So this model in particular would be rated to handle 4 adults to a family of 6 for residential/full-time (emptied approximately 4 times a year) or 7 adults to a family of 9 for seasonal use (emptied approximately once a year). To remove compost, simply rotate the handle, located on the side of the composting unit, counter-clockwise. This will allow material to drop down into the drawer located at the base of the unit. Leave that material in the drawer (the drawer remains inside the unit) for 30+ days before removing the drawer for disposal. The material you are removing is considered a safe compost and can therefore normally be used in places like flower gardens. Make sure to review local regulations in case there are specific rules in place for disposal. Though, Sun-Mar toilets are certified by the NSF which certifies the end-product is a safe-to-use soil. The toilet you see pictured would be mounted similar to a conventional toilet using a floor flange. The large composter would be housed underneath such as in a basement or crawl space. I hope this helps, should you have more questions, please feel free to contact Sun-Mar or your local Home Depot.

Centrex 2000 Non-Electric Waterless High Capacity Central Composting Toilet System in Bone is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it! We've had an 2000NE in our summer home for four years now (it's on an isolated island in the north). We---especially my wife and grandchildren---love having just a small odour-free toilet in the interior washroom. Of course the stinky old outhouse is long-forgotten. The installation was somewhat complex---(a) pouring a levelling concrete pad under the house, (b) running a 4" vent up through two floors and the roof, (c) creating an evaporating mound for the French drain, and (d) running a water line---but well worth it. It certainly was easier than building a new outhouse and pit. When the septic system on our southern acreage eventually fails we'll be replacing it with a Centrex unit.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Incomplete This does not come with the toilet itself, which actually does take water. Doesn't say complete toilet system minus the toilet anywhere. Please fix this.
