Customer Questions & Answers

What is the estimated energy consumption?

Asked by: JLH10
12 Watts per square foot. This will also draw 1 amp for every 10 square feet. Sincerely, SunTouch

How long are the leads from the mat and can the mat be used with the leads on either side i.e. ordered with left or right, or turn the mat over?

To better plan for locating the controller (prior to purchasing the mat) I need to know the length of the leads on the mat. I am planning my electrical rough-in to locate the electrical box, but I have an existing box that I could expand if location okay. I also need to have the leads on the right side when the mat is laid down at my bathroom floor at the entry door way (looking down in plan view).
Asked by: AH71
The power lead is 10 feet long, and the mat can be flipped over to allow the lead to be placed on the opposite side. Sincerely, SunTouch

Effeciency? Can this be used instead of traditional radiant heating? If so, does anyone know the kw/hr usage?

Just trying to see how the effeciency stacks up. Trying to build as green of a house as possible for long term sustainability.

This product is meant solely for warming the floor. If you want to use it to heat the space, we would recommend having a heat loss calculation done to ensure it is a possibility. Feel free to call us at 888-432-8932 for more information on how to have a heat loss calculation done for your project. Sincerely, SunTouch

Can I hook more than one mat together

I will need to run three of theses 14 ft mats so can they work or be wired together with one thermostat or controller?
Asked by: mike
You may install mats together in parallel (not in series) to one thermostat as long as the total amp load does not exceed 15 amps. This equates to 150 square feet at 120 Volts and 300 square feet at 240 volts. Thank you.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great idea, installation a bit finicky I used the manufacturers website calculator to see which size to buy. Turned out to be a bit small for my room, but with some careful placement and corners turned it worked out okay. Yes the instructions and DVD are nice, but, at least in my situation, you are left with different heights to lay tile on top of. Where the mats are is higher than where there are no mats, so I had to fudge the tile a bit to get it pretty flat. I have only tested the mats once so far and they heated up nicely, cant wait till the remodel is done and I start using the new bathroom and heated floors, especially in the winter! I bought the programable thermostat and the 'Loud Mouth' installation monitor - both seem to work fine so far. MMMM, warm feets!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Toasty warm feet Product installed very easily, good directions, should have included a nail plate though. I had to go back to the store to get one but no big deal. Floor warms nice and evenly. My two year old loves her new bathroom. I got the SunStat Programmable Floor Warming Control (120V/240V) 100607176. Works great as a daily timer. lights up nicely for evening viewing when you hit the buttons.
