Customer Questions & Answers

What is the length or the wire strap included in this kit?

The details say that tie down wire strap is included for weaving the heating element. How long is the strap? Can extra wire straps be purchased separately?
Asked by: Ryan
I did not use the strap everywhere on the floor, I used hot glue, easier to pull up and reapply if you needed to, I also was freaked out by the strap possibly cutting into the wire. Hot glue was the way to go.

Can I use the sun touch radiant heating wire on a slab floor

Asked by: Jr
Yes, I have installed two floors, both on plywood, but everything I have read and videos I have watched have shown me you can do that and it should be just fine.

Does this work with any thermostat, or needs a specific one?

Does this work with a standard thermostat, for example, Honeywell RTH6350D or needs a specific thermostat?
Asked by: DD
I would use the thermostats that are recommended, then you have less variables that could go wrong.

can I use the warmwire spool in combination with a couple of the mats?

I already have a couple mats, but want to use the spool wire for the rest of the floor-do they wire together?
Asked by: brandysbone
I did, I consulted an electrician first, but my issue was that I just needed 15 square feet more and that only came in mats, so I ordered the smallest mat and cut the orange mat away from the wire and laid the wire down that way, worked well.

I actually ordered the wrong product and had to re-order the 240 volt wire, but it is excellent, it went down easily and I have it working for me now, it is awesome in the cold mornings. My dogs love laying on it also, kinda annoying, but understandable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great and came with more than expected I ordered this radiant wire after searching the web for a long time looking for a quality product at a good price. Installation was easy as it came with the metal strips for holding down the wire (wasn't mentioned in the description). In the instructions it recommends to space the wire at least 3" (I know I was looking for that). When I installed it in my floor I used 1/4" cement board and then used self leveling cement on top of the wire to prevent nicking the wire when adding thinset, total depth added to the subfloor by the end was about 1/2" before title. Thermostat wire is a little thicker than the heating wire so I did make a small trench for that to sit in.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simple and works great Put this in during a master bath remodel and can't be more happy. You just need to find an electrical outlet to use. Then just install the spacer clips on the floor and place the wire anywhere you want it. I put it under tile and only where we would walk or stand. I didn't see a need to put it under the entire floor. So for $300 my wife gets warm feet and our bedroom stays at a more consistent temp. at night.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great floor! Just installed this myself in our bathroom remodel 9 months ago. It took about an extra day to install everything and the end product is an awesome heated tile floor. I used self leveler over the wires to protect them when installing and the floor still warms very nice. I would recommend this to anybody in cooler winter climates.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Radiant Heating Wire Wire has tough outer covering which was great. Pretty easy to install once I got the spacing correct. Assumed it came with a floor sensor but it didn't. Had to buy separately. I did come with the metal hold down strips. Overall very pleased. Nice warm floor.
