Answer:
The product can be installed under carpet, though it must still be completely embedded in either modified thin-set or self-leveler. We also recommend a carpet and padding that has less than an R-value of 3. If it has a higher R-value, you will trap all of your heat below the carpet and not feel much warmth from the system.

CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 4.0 out of 5 by 2 reviewers.
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Home Depot needs to support the product better I am very happy with the product but I found it extremely frustrating that Home Depot markets this product heavily in their store without carrying the products that the installation manuals highly recommend using. Specifically their store does not carry the Loudmouth fault sensor or the plastic trowels specified in the installation instructions. It made for a slow and challenging installation for a novice when it could have been much more straight forward. February 4, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best Way to lay out a heated floor First venture into a heated floor in a Master Bath remodel, and using this wiring spool rather than the mats made huge sense both for cost and ease of laying the heated area out to most easily fit the real shape of the space we had. Instructions were very clear and made it much easier than I would have thought. November 5, 2013
