Product Overview

SunTouch UnderFloor mat is a perfect solution to warm nearly every type of floor covering. These special mats warm existing floors without having to replace the floor covering. If you have access under a floor, simply staple UnderFloor mats between the joists. The mat installs very easily underneath the subfloor and connects to 120 volt AC power. This 8 ft. by 16 in. 120V mat is great for installations in bathrooms, kitchens, entryways, or any room with cold floors and may also add warmth to the entire room while keeping your floors dry. The UnderFloor mat consists of an electric heating wire secured to a durable nylon mesh by a durable foil cover. The temperature of the floor is controlled with either the sunstat programmable or dial thermostats (sold separately). An in-depth installation manual is included.

Customer Questions & Answers

under-floor install?

Our subfloors are 3/4" thick plywood, with snap-lock composite laminate on top. --How well does the heat filter upwards through subfloor and laminate? --What's most effective to prevent heat getting lost under the house into the crawlspace? --If we mount R-20 foam panels under these heaters, to keep the heat up under the floors, would that be sufficient to help prevent heat from getting lost under the house? --Or, what if we placed radiant foil, then placed the foam panels--would that be more effective? --How safe are these radiant heat panels, mounted up under the floors? --Would this application dumb-down the efficiency of the system badly?
Asked by: RandC
Because this is underneath the floor, rather than in it, it will take a little longer to heat than the TapeMat. The laminate floor covering will somewhat restrict it as well, but you still should be able to get the temperatures you want, as long as it is properly insulated. Per the manual, you will want to install R-13 to R-19 batt insulation directly below the mat itself, which should be 2" below the subfloor. Because the insulation is right against the mat itself, a foil faced batt ins't needed. Foil needs an air gap to properly reflect heat, and there will be none between the mat and the insulation.

Customer Reviews

8 ft. x 16 in. Underfloor Radiant Floor Warming Mat is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Underfloor warming mat These mats, combined with the Suntouch thermostat make a great system in a house with a tile floor that did not have heat below the tile. Not simple to install when there is insulation already installed and if it is in a crawl space, as was ours. But, worth the effort and the $s.
