Answer:
You can either pour self-leveler over the system, let it dry, and then place your tile OR you can also thin set over the mat and place your tile at the same time, making it all one step. Both installation methods are acceptable.
Sincerely,

SnapStone ceramic tile does not have quickset or any similar cement, so it would sit directly on top of the warming mat.

Rated 4.4 out of 5 by 36 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Very Disappointed! I just purchased this item and had it professionally installed by my tile setter during my master bath renovation. Everything was installed correctly and the unit does work - but just barely! Even with the thermostat set at 90, it has barely warmed the initial coating of thin set mortar after nearly 5 hours of operation. There is NO way it will warm the floor when temperatures are actually cold. Unfortunately, this is an item that cannot be replaced once installed. DO NOT waste your money on this product - spend a little more and get a quality floor warmer. June 17, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Needs careful installation In researching floor warming systems the SunTouch seemed like a great value and also seemed well thought out and manufactured. The videos and manuals are very thorough to help first timers like me. I carefully laid out my grid and followed the instructions to the letter. I cut grooves in the plywood sub-floor where the wires and sensors were located so they did not stick up so high. I was laying down 12x12x1/4 ceramic tiles using a standard mortar for adhesive. I also used a metal trowel with no issues. The main problem I had was getting the tiles to lay even where there was a transition from tiles laid over the grid to tiles laid over no grid. In fact, I had difficulty getting them to all rest at the same level because the grid and wire stands proud of the floor by roughly 1/8" and it seemed like the mortar followed this instead of everything coming out to a nominal thickness of 1/4" as set by the trowel. In retrospect I wish I had sunk tile spacers in the mortar to help assure that all the tiles would be even. Next time.....if there is a next time. The overall appearance is not as bad as I describe. So, this is a great system if you are meticulous in keeping the tiles all level and even. I have tested it out and the system works well. The control is easily set and adjusted. Nice to have a clock in the bathroom now. The real test will be this winter when it is cold out. June 30, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Luke warm I bought this floor heating mat for my guest bathroom because I have one under the floor in my master bath. Turns out the one I bought from Home Depot is very weak, and it barely warms the floor. I should have bought the same kind as my master bath, but it is only sold through big tile suppliers, so I thought the Home Depot option was easier. WRONG May 10, 2016

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great value Good product, exactly what I expected when product arrived. Quality and versatility are up to par with more expensive products on the market. Highly recommend this product. January 26, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great addition to a new remodel Installation is a little tricky - thin set goes over mat then tile goes down. Takes a little practice to get the thickness just right. So nice to walk on a warm tile floor in Winter. December 25, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Bathroom floor warming mat Remodeled our bathroom and we put the Sun Touch Floor Warming mat underneath our ceramic tile floor and we love it. You can feel the warmth within minutes of turning it on. We have a control that you can adjust the temperature and program it to go on and off anytime so you're not wasting electricity when no one is home. December 10, 2015
