Had to throw out my old Hunter humidifier after it died at 2 am. My wife first got a ultrasonic model, but that covered our entire bedroom in wet dust resulting a quick return to to the store. We then decided on this model for the following reasons:
1 - no filter required
2- warm humidity rather than a cold mist
3 - humidistat so we could decide upon the level of humidity we wanted.
4 - very easy to clean and solid construction
So we brought it home, filled up the reservoir, plugged it in and it has been great ever since. Looking forward to a long service life from this unit. Sorry for no picture, but hey, its a humidifier!

I bought this humidifier, got home, set it up. It stated that it takes 10 minutes to heat up and then it should start working. The directions also stated that when it's low on water it will go into the Reset mode. Well after 10 minutes plus I checked on the humidifier and it wasn't working it went right into the Reset mode. So I looked at the rest of the directions for this - it stated you have to unplug it, wait 15 minutes, plug it back in and start over. Are you kidding me........... I returned it. So I didn't even have it an entire day and returned it. Very frustrating to try to get to work. Wouldn't recommend this product.
Just a note, living in Maine we have harsh winters and in researching humidifiers I found that a warm humidifier should be used and most stores in Maine have more cool mist than warm mist.. Makes no sense.

My Holmes humidifier for my bedroom stopped running at the end of winter last year. So, I bought this model and it is just wonderful. Super quiet, easy to fill and moisturizes the room perfectly. I am going to purchase one today for my mom's bedroom.

It's Winter time in Virginia....
Our whole house humidifier recently broke. My wife and I started getting severely itchy and dry skin. Fingers and hands were cracking wide open and no amount of hand lotion would rehydarate the skin. The skin on my face and forehead was flaking off like snowflakes until I bought this humidifier.
We have an old Cape Cod house with wood floors and the floor boards were starting to splinter out like knife blades from being so dry.
I keep the unit in the main floor hallway between the bedroom and living room. I leave it on High 24/7 and have to refill it 2 times per day. It's capacity is a little over 2 gallons total, so 4 gallons of water into the air daily does a better job than the whole house unit use to do. The dry, itchy and flaky skin were gone within a week, the floor stopped creaking and my 2 dogs love the sound and feel of it. They nap next to it all day.
The air quality in the house is much better than ever before. I haven't used hand lotion in 3 weeks and have no signs of dry skin.
This is a great humidifier. It's doing a great job elevating the humidity on the 750 sq/ft main level, 750 sq/ft carpeted basement that doesn't shock you anymore and the 750 sq/ft attic and main floors are not splintering anymore.
Cleaning is easy. The tank is still clean after a month. Once a week I have to take the pump/motor out and clean off the white scale (mineral deposits) from the heating element and the base tray. The unit comes apart with the twist of a switch. It takes about 5 minutes to rinse the base and clean the heater element.
I use thermometers with hygrometers throughout the house to monitor the humidity levels. When the main floor hits 50%, I shut off, or turn to lowest setting the unit.

I rely heavily on people's reviews of products I buy, so I hope this helps others. Even though I've been putting shallow pans of water on all my radiators and using a 1 gallon warm mist humidifier it wasnt enough moisture in my 2 story house. I knew I wanted more than 1.5 gallon and most nearby stores only had 1 gallon warm-mist humidifiers. So I bought 2- Sunbeam 1.7 gallon warmmist humidifiers and I've had them for a week. So the POSITIVE FEATURES: 1. It has two settings-low and hi- plus you can adjust the humidity settings with the humidistat. 2. It's not difficult to fill in a sink- despite the top not being truly flat it does stay still while filling. 3. I've had no problems with leaking, condensation or "slime" when I've refilled or cleaned it. I do put it on a chair or wooden tv table so the mist doesn't hit the floor or furniture. 4. It is fairly quiet, though you can hear some soft gurgling & pinging noises-which sounds a little like raining, but it's not bothersome and doesn't disturb me while I'm sleeping. 5. It does automatically shut off if empty. The NEGATIVE FEATURES: 1. There are no numbers on the adjustable humidistat though the instructions say it's from 25%-65%. 2. Part of the base does get a bit hot-not enough to burn you or anything but if you have kids be careful. 3. The white lip of the tank doesn't fit snugly into the grey base. (The lip in the front fits on the inside while the lip in the back is on the outside. I'm wondering if that caused others to have leaking). 4. I noticed that when you first use it it (or use it after cleaning) that it won't start heating the water unless the humidistat is all the way to the right-which I do believe the instructions suggest. 5. I don't know to what degree it's going to affect my electric bill but it's worth it. 6.Yes it is time consuming to follow the weekly instructions in removing scale buildup, especially if you have hard water. I don't think 30 minutes once a week is too bad. I'd rather do that than have to deal with the expense & time with looking & buying filters, drops or tablets; and dealing with white dust everywhere when you have a cool mist humidifier.
