Wanted this mixer because of the glass bowls. Wanted to be able to put the bowl in the microwave to melt certain ingredients. First time I did that the large bowl broke into 3 major pieces. Otherwise the mixer was as expected. Home depot customer service said they would get a new bowl out to me. A week later I received an email telling me that they could not get a replacement bowl from the manufacturer and that I would have to return the whole unit and reorder another new mixer. Unfortunately they did not have it in stock.

I don't bake a lot, but when I do it's sure nice to use a stand mixer! The Sunbeam Mixmaster works great for me, and has more watts/power and costs much less than other brands. I appreciate the two bowl sizes and three beater styles that came with it.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Ruth Excellent mixer for the price.
We bought this mixer to replace the one we received for a wedding present 51 years ago. This Sunbeam is almost identical to our old one except this is made of plastic and our old one was metal. I expect the same service out of this mixer although I don't think I'll be around to see it.

I have owned a Sunbeam Mixmaster stand mixer for 15 years and absolutely loved it! But recently it finally gave out. I ordered this new Sunbeam Mixmaster and it was cheap plastic. The bowl will not stay on the stand, will not spin if you put a spatula along the inside wall to scrape down the mix. I was very very disappointed. My old Mixmaster was all metal and this new design is all plastic. The whole mixer shook while trying to mix cookie dough.

I bought a few of these for use in a special effects makeup lab. They work great!

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Short Lady Big Disappointment!
What a sad disappointment the Sunbeam Stand Mixmaster is. Since the 1950s I have had a marvelous marvelous Mixmaster and it worked like a charm for decades. The motor in it broke down finally, but I have kept it, thinking that it might be possible to have it fixed. The new Sunbeam Mixmaster with Stand is a shadow of the older model. It shakes the whole time you have it on and the distance between the motor and the top of the bowl makes it very awkward to attach the beaters or hooks or to add ingredients while they are in. I am sending it back. Just wish I could get my old one repaired. It makes me very sad.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Bancos Family Bakery Great for baking cake!
My husband and I just got a second one of these so we could make wedding cakes more efficiently - we don't know what we'd do without them!
We recently learned how to put the beaters in properly - make sure to put the one with the white tip towards the outside of the bowl (it's wrong in some of the pictures).
We also learned how to take off the top part - so much easier to transport that way! Why didn't we read the manual sooner? :P

I recently purchased the red Sunbeam Mixmaster as a replacement for a KitchenAid that had stopped working. Now I've only used the machine twice now, once to make a birthday cake so of course no problems there. The second use was for a DOUBLE batch of Birthday Cake Chocolate Chip cookies with sprinkles and the works. I have to say, I am very pleased with this machine. The first thing I noticed is it is much easier to add in the ingredients than other stand mixers. The second thing i noticed is how well it incorporates the ingredients together. The glass bowl is HEAVY as all the reviews I read stated (so I am looking for a stainless steel bowl to purchase) , but I like the weight of the bowl for making thick doughs. Buying this product was a tough decision, but I'm glad I did. I gave the quality rating average, because the machine is plastic - unlike my mothers adorable vintage one that still works. And don't get me wrong, I actually kind of appreciate the plastic machine because it is MUCH lighter. I'd say this machine is great for young people with a tight budget who love to bake, but are renters in an urban city and might find themselves moving on a regular basis. Or just have limited counter space. The ONLY reason I gave this a moderate rating on ease of cleaning is because the weight of the glass bowl. I was frightened my hands would slip while cleaning it.
