Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by ML65 I may buy a second one.
I went to HD looking for a space heater and came across this model. It works great. I bought it for the living room but, ended up using it in the bedroom instead. It starts emitting hot air through convection almost immediately unlike the oil type that have to heat up. It has a great low profile and I love the timer and the thermostat features. I may buy a second one for the living room instead of the oil radiator style I have now.

my furnace went out in 2011. i ordered 3 of these heaters for 1400sf home. i did some research online on different heaters and reviews and chose this one.
WOW NICE!! i have one in my room. i turn it on 1/2 hour before bed. u can dream your in Hawaii and sleep naked, and that's on the Econo setting!! comfortable heated air.
they're inexpensive to run also. my electric bill was CHEAPER than with air conditioning and i saved on the gas!! (since furnace wasn't running). it's actually cheaper this way..
they run SILENTLY, NO HUM!! (hate white noise). the only sound it makes is a gentle clicking when it turns on. NO FAN so no dust kick up from the floor or carpet!!! and does not heat the furniture behind or to the sides of it.
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS HEATER!! i loaned one to my neighbor and how she's addicted too!!!
there is NO REGRET in buying this heater. i don't think i want my furnace fixed anymore :) cheaper, cleaner, more comfortable air from a good looking unit.. fits right in!!
ps. if u move it, you have to plug it in for a few minutes before it will let you turn it back on. it's a safety feature.

i live in an apartment and the genius that decided on the heating came up with the idea to put a in space heater, connected to the wall in my living room that uses natural gas, which gets to be pretty pricey [yeah, thanks chief] and lets not fail to mention that it's a space heater and i have a huge bedroom so it's like 15 degrees colder than the rest of my apartment, so anyhow i checked out the reviews did a bunch of research and viola! i came across this baby. i took a drive to my local home depot and purchased it and i freakin LOVE this thing. it heats up my whole room so fast and keeps it nice and toasty. anyhow, save your money and get yourself one of these babies. you won't regret it.

The "Eco-Smart" feature on this unit is a useless gimmick. This is not a big deal, since the heater would be just fine without it. I just can't see why anyone would ever use this feature. When you press this button, the thermostat is de-activated, although the timer will still work. What it does is cycle back and forth between 750W and 1500W continuously at about 5 minute intervals. Big deal. Just turn the thermostat up instead. I don't see how this makes any sense or saves any energy. Furthermore, the instruction sheet that comes with the heater doesn't explain this well at all.

I've always used Lasko brand heaters because they have been very reliable. I needed an additional baseboard heater and found this one in the store. It was cheaper than the Lasko. I am pleased with this Smalco heater. The remote is nice which is a key factor in my decision. The drawback with the temp and timer settings. Temp is set in multiples of 5 degrees. The timer choices are 1, 2 4 and 8 hours. Lasko has 1 degree temp and 1 hour timer increments. Puts off generous heat and will run you out of an enclosed room in a short amount of time.

O.K., It's obvious that the manufacturer has an issue with 'quality control'. If you get lucky you get the product that works and doesn't break. I have been that customer lucky enough to receive one. If they can hammer out the quality control issue then I think they would sell a whole lot more of these! One contention I have is the plug-in cord get 'hot' by the 'recepticle' ... this worries me! However, the unit has shut-off once on its own and I now have it plugged into a powerstrip. They almost have it completely right ... SUNBEAM ... read your reviews :).

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Andy Works well but hums too much
Took it home and fired it up. It certainly heats nicely, but there is a pretty annoying 60-Hz hum. I'm more sensitive than most to droning noise and I since I want to run the space heater over night in my bedroom, that was a deal breaker for me. If you don't mind another layer of white noise as you sleep or plan to use it in an environment which wouldn't be otherwise silent, its probably not a big deal.
While I was putting it through the paces, the thermostat seemed to work properly and my room was nicely warmed.
