It would be best if you were to use a thinner walled garden hose on your Suncast RSH125. The capacity rating is based on a 5/8 inch, 2-ply thick vinyl hose. This is a standard size for garden hose. You can find rubber hoses, but these will be thicker walled and will wrap less compactly or easily around the drum. Answer:
Cut your losses and buy a new metal reel. The plastic ones just don't hold up and do not lend well to rotary couplings made to seal off the water leaks. Wish I had better news - mine is in the landfill.

Answer:
I sent two of these to the landfill after one wouldn't pull out and the other wouldn't wind, despite the lever being in the right position. I seem to recall that the units can be disassembled, by unscrewing screws that hold the two half\ves together. If this is the case, then what's most likely the problem is that the rubber sealing rings would need to be weither repositioned or replaced.

Answer:
Yes, this is a pre-assembled hose reel. The only assembly required for the Suncast RSH125 water-powered hose reel will be to the hoses.
You will attach the leader hose that is included to the in-tube and the drain hose that is included to the drain hose outlet. You will lift the lid, rotate the drum by hand until you locate the hose guide all the way to the left side, and then attach your garden hose

You will also attach the two piece hose stop near the end of your garden hose to prevent it from being drawn back into the unit.
These are simple installations illustrated in the manual that accompanies the hose reel. Thank you for asking and for your interest in Suncast products for your home and garden.

Rated 3.3 out of 5 by 80 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by great product Our second hose reel of this type. The first lasted three seasons, but failed in the fourth due to dirt "splashing" into the mechanism. Made a platform raised 8 inches for this one. So far no dirt. The product works very well for relling the hose and for pulling it out. Keeping it clean should improve its lasting qualities. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Not Good I had to order this product 3 times. It didn't rewind all the times the first time and had a leak the other two times. August 9, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by not very good doesn't work does not real in the hose just stays and makes noises not worth the money it's going back July 5, 2016

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very satisfied with my recent purchase! I was very pleased with the ease that this hose recoils into the box. Much easier for someone with weak hands to operate. I would high recommend this product. June 14, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Makes life easier We have had this hose winder for years and never had a problem with it. As to the complaints that it's hard to pull out; the trick is not to turn the water on until the hose has been pulled out several feet. May 26, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by 125 ft. Aquawinder Auto Rewind Hose Reel This is the second and final time I purchase this item. Both occasions the lever broke when we switched it to rewind. From now on, I will get the manual wind. May 15, 2016
