Although it was not designed specifically with a seat lid and does have a slightly rounded top, the Suncast 72 gallon resin wicker deck box model DBW7000 can be used for occasional seating.
Depending on the size, one or two people can sit on deck boxes that are labeled on their cartons with a “sturdy design for seating.” Small deck boxes can hold one person or about 150 pounds. The larger deck boxes can hold two people or about 300 pounds. This assumes ordinary care will be used while sitting.

The manufacturer states that this box is weather resistant, not waterproof. It should hold your cushions and keep them dry in reasonable weather conditions.

I have not had it yet for the winter season, but that is what I plan to do in terms of storing cushions in it. We have had a lot of heavy rain lately. Everything that I have stored in It is completely dry. I am anticipating that will be the case in the winter as well.

Answer:
This probably depends on your climate. It would protect against water entering the box, as it is fairly watertight, but is not airtight. If you live in a very humid or damp climate during winter months, the cushions may get damp. However, you could probably seal the edges of the lid to make it airtight.

We leave ours stored in the storage box when we leave the lake house. We are usually there at least twice a week and remove and put them on the furniture. Winter has not arrived so can't really say for the winter but summer, yes. It is also under an open porch out of the sun and rain.

The Suncast deck box DBW7000 is intended to be used as a stationary storage device only. For this reason, it will not have wheels. It is not intended for transporting heavy objects and caution should be used when moving fully loaded product. Thank you for your question, Jim, and your interest in Suncast products.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Arrival from Home Depot was a day sooner than estimated... bonus. I was able to assemble fairly easily. Box is sturdy and looks great on my patio. I have had it only a month or so. It is covered so cannot speak to the water tightness. The lid seems a bit wonky, slips some when I open it, but not a big deal... closes tightly. I unfortunately did not measure accurately, so my deep patio cushions are very, very tight (and I had hoped to use it for a couple of additional items, probably should have ordered the next larger size). So don't make my mistake double check the INTERIOR measurements. I may order another smaller one to compliment the patio décor. Overall it met my expectations. October 25, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great deck box! Easy to put together, very sturdy. It also stays dry inside even with torrential rain! Safe place for my chair cushions June 24, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Box Front panel too flexible and bulges out when cushions are inside. October 18, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Made only for small cushions or items I had to return this deck box as it was not quite deep enough to hold my chair cushions - therefore the top kept popping open.. Also, it was not ventilated like the Suncast (same brand) deck box which I was replacing from years ago, a much better quality. October 4, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great storage Easy to put together and sturdy. I think it will hold a lot of cushions. Love the latch that can be padlocked if needed. October 11, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by patio storage easy to assemble, attractive container to store multiple items and improve looks of patio area October 11, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great box, easy to assemble. I needed a box to hold a small amount of firewood near my front door. This box matched my siding and was the perfect size. Easy to assemble with no tools needed. Seems to be waterproof enough. October 7, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Perfect container to store BBQ stuff I needed a new yard box to store my grill stuff. This one is the perfect size. I can store my extra propane tank upright and the rotisserie shaft has plenty of room. I like things organized and this fits perfectly with the clean look in my back yard. assembly was a snap. It took me longer to get it out of the very durable packaging than to put it together. (about 5 minuets) October 4, 2016
