Questions & Answers

Once assembled, is this shed light enough to be moved a few feet from its location?

I plan to put this up against a wooden fence but I foresee having to replace the fence in five years. If so, i'd need to move the shed out about 3 or 4 feet to get behind it to remove the old fence and put up the new one. Anyone have any idea? Thanks
Asked by: grut
Yes, I moved it (with some help) a couple of feet after assembly. My shed is on a concrete pad, so that makes it a little easier.

height of 7x3.8 shed?

my ideal size is 6width by 4 depth less than 7ft height
Asked by: frank
Why does the product spec. list the width as 3 feet 7.5 inches, but the Suncast representative's answer here says the exterior depth is 32.5" deep. That's an important difference to me in figuring out whether I can store what I need to store (like a lawnmower). I hope the spec is right and not the response from the Suncast person.

Do I have to have a poured concrete foundation?

Asked by: Mdillon
No! I made a wooden base or platform to mount it on. No problem at all.

Took my husband about 6 hours to put up by himself. Also, pay attention, because I ordered the overhead storage unit, and on the the home depot site it states it will fit. It definitely does not fit this shed. It would fit the larger Alpine sheds, but not this one. There is no way to hang it and would be difficult getting things onto and off the shelf. As far as putting the windows and vents in, it will make your life easier if you lay the door horizontally across the tops of chairs or sawhorses. Then line up the casket windows and put the screws in from underneath. The shed works and probably will last a long time. Instructions could be better.

Haven't had it long enough to see how it stands up to wind, rain, snow. Mine is in a sheltered spot, but think if put it out in open, may be unhappy with overall sturdiness. With that said, if can get at a price that makes it worth while to put it up in hours (vs. build own shed for much more money and time), and if right size (perfect for my situation), then worth a try. It is tidy and cute (wife likes it). Could be sturdier inside with a few simple modifications, but again, pretty much as expected. We will see how it holds up....

I had spent many hours searching online for "plastic" storage sheds and this is the one I decided on. And now, with it completely installed, I couldn't be happier with my decision. It is good quality, very sturdy, attractive design, and easy to assemble -- just as described. The instructions insist it takes two people to put this together but it could be done without assistance -- it's that easy. I have no doubt this will hold up for many years, virtually maintenance-free. I would definitely buy this again should the need ever arise.

As others have noted, installing the window plastic is a mess. The channels won't contain the rubber cord, so you have to tape or glue it in. A second person is needed to line up the window so you can screw it in to the door. The connector pins which help hold the walls together are a tight fit. They're plastic, and it's easy to knock the tab off the top when tamping the pins in place. Also, don't ignore the instruction to flex the wall corners so that they bend at a sharp angle. I could not get the fourth wall corner and the roof to come together properly and have jury-rigged a connection. Aside from help fitting the window, I put the unit together by myself and I'm 78, so it's not a big deal. The appearance of the unit is quite good.

Everything lined up and they included all of the needed hardware plus a few extra. The roof was the toughest- you really have to muscle it down to snap into place.
