Thank you for your question, Shadowmom. The windows in the doors of the Suncast BMS6300 storage shed include two sheet panes and rubber gaskets that encase them within the frame in each door. These windows will effectively keep out rain and snow while allowing light to filter in and are not open holes in the doors.

This unit has a resin floor, however the instructions tell you to put a wood base underneath. I would not place the enclosed floor directly on the ground seems to flimsy to me and I would expect it to crack. Specially in cold weather.

They are covered with a tinted acrylic like square that you screw on the inside of the doors. If you chose not to screw that piece on the spaces could be left open.

Thank you for your questions, Breezy. Though we have not tested for the numbers of totes that can be stored within, we can give you internal measurements that might help you.
The interior depth of the Suncast shed model BMS6310 is 2 feet 4.75 inches and the inside width from side to side is 5 feet 9.5 inches. The interior wall height is approximately 6 feet. At peak height inside, it reaches 7 feet 6.25 inches high, which may or may not be a help, depending on the size of a tote.
As for withstanding weather conditions, all Suncast blow-molded sheds, the BMS6310 included, are constructed of double-walled resin plastic and are weather resistant due to the plastic selected and the structural features in the product, such as overhanging roofs and overlapping panels. Designed for environmental temperature ranges found throughout the US and Canada, temperature variations will not affect the durability or function of these Suncast sheds. Consequently, your items stored inside will be protected from the weather.
We suggest that you measure your Christmas totes to determine how many might fit inside. The contents stored inside this shed should be well-protected without additional measures. We appreciate your concerns and thank you for thinking of Suncast products to fill your needs.

Everett 2 ft. 9 in. x 6 ft. 2.75 in. Resin Storage Shed is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 100.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Overall, great shed! Very easy to put together. The material appears very durable and should hold up for years. I also bought a stand alone plastic shelf at HD (http://m.homedepot.com/p/HDX-4-Shelf-15-in-D-x-28-in-W-x-52-in-H-Black-Plastic-Storage-Shelving-Unit-17307263B/202520643) and placed it in the shed rather than spending the money on the factor shelving. Worked out great, and I still have plenty of room left in the shed. Also, as others have mentioned, be sure to put the two roof supports on prior to locking both roof panels in place. If you have any hesitations about buying this shed, don't, you will love it!

Overall, the product went together as per the instructions, with the exception that you must install (position) the roof support bars before putting the roof on. Overall, it took about 3 hours to assembly - I was solo and it really wasn't a problem - including drilling holes for securing the plastic base. A couple of niggles are that the base is not pre-drilled, so had to drill out some 5/8th holes for the securing bolts, the screens covering the air vents are too flimsy to be secured by screws (might be easier to superglue them), and the gaskets for the window seals are a little fiddly. Other than that, pretty easy to put together and is pretty sturdy when bolted down.

It not only looks nice, but it fits together well and seems to be very stable. It took 2 of us a couple of hours to put together. I do have one suggestion to change in the assembly instructions. It is impossible to complete step #30 and #31 without going backward and removing the roof. The roof support brackets (HH) will not fit into header (K) with the roof attached. Thus steps #30 and #31 should actually be steps #24 and #25 before attaching the roof.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from The Jury is Out I am in process of trying to resolve several quality issues with this shed. In short, I'm pretty handy and technically inclined and found multiple quality issues that caused significant frustration and hours of extra time to be spent and at this moment I have an incomplete shed about 90% finished and I'm awaiting replacement parts. The issues were so significant that I took the time to organize them in Word document that I sent to Suncast and requested action. Response times have been sluggish (2 weeks after initial contact with an incomplete shed) and today Suncast absolutely ignored everything in my letter other than to state we are sending you replacement parts and the caulk you used is okay. In fact initially, they took an accusatory tone in the questions about how I assembled it. As background, I am an engineer and I grew up and learned the custom cabinet building trade from my Father, so I know my way around directions, hardware, and mechanical assembly methods.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice storage shed two of us... power tools..... 1.25 hours start to finish. Seriously.... get at least a power drill for this thing. Works okay - don't forget to put the cross pieces on the roof before you put the roof on. Like others have said - only confusing part of this.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from A nice shed, but too flimsy This small garden shed had Build Instructions, while at first glance seemed to cover every nut and screw, some important parts were left out. Yes, it was easy enough to rework when we put walls up incorrectly, but as far as I could tell, the instructions did not tell you that the walls had to go up in a specific direction. The parts and material list with all the parts numbered was excellent. Some items were a little cheesy, but were of little consequence. After the build I was a little surprised it was as flimsy as it was, and if erected out in the open could cause it to flex too much creating problems for the large plastic screws which being too short would loosen. Placing it up against a wall would be a better place for it. We chose this style because we had limited space where it was to be erected. Considering it appears to be recycled plastic, the price seems quite high at $474.00. I do not like companies who try and recoup development cost up front instead of relying on Economies of Scale to bring in the margins they were expecting. So at that price I would not recommend it.
