Customer Questions & Answers

how high are the doors?

Asked by: foxy
Hi foxy, I'm Travis from The Home Depot. Thanks for visiting our site. The doors appear to be the same height as the side walls, which are 73.75'' tall. The doors are 6' 1¾'' tall. Thank you for asking, -Travis

Can this be moved?

Can this be assembled in a carport and then at a later time, disassembled or partially disassembled and moved to another location, i.e. back yard?
Asked by: Frannye
Yes, Frannye, the Suncast large shed model GS9000 can be moved. The method depends on how far the move is. The snap connectors are basically one-way snaps. This is to fortify the stability and integrity of the shed. However, panels can be taken apart using a series of small screwdrivers, inserted into the snap holes, left in each section at a time, and used as a pry. This can usually be done with little or no marring, but it should not be something done often, because the snaps and snap holes are weakened. If the move is only for a few feet, we've had luck lifting the unit enough to slide corrugated cardboard underneath and then sliding the unit over grass. It takes a few people to help do this, but it can be done. If the unit is being moved a longer distance or has to traverse obstacles, disassembly is more than likely required. You probably wouldn't have to disassemble the floor panels, if it can be carefully moved as a subassembly. Good luck, and thank you for your question. Frannye, and your interest in Suncast products.

No obvious anchors are there any?

High winds are my fear.
Asked by: Bobby42
The floor panels for the Suncast model GS9000 storage shed may be reinforced by adding 2 by 4 boards, as shown in the Owner’s Manual, giving the floor a more reliable and level surface, especially in soft ground conditions. This also adds greater strength for storing heavier items such as lawn tractors. Once end boards are in place, holes can be drilled through the four ends of the boards and 12 inch galvanized nails (not furnished but available at local hardware retailers) can be inserted through each hole and into the ground. This is illustrated on page 2 of the assembly manual. Any additional anchoring should be discussed with contractors more familiar with your locale and weather conditions. If properly assembled and on a solid and level foundation as described in the Owner’s Manual, the GS9000 has been lab tested and is capable of withstanding a maximum wind load of 65 mph. Thank you for your question and your interest in Suncast products.

Does Suncast make a longer shed

I am looking for a shed that is no higher than 6' but long, 7 to 8' would be ideal. Is there such a shed?

Customer Reviews

Extra Large 7 ft. 9 in. x 5 ft. 6 in. Resin Storage Shed is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 44.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Suncast Storage Shed is a great buy Took me 3 hrs. mostly by myself. Need 2 people to put the roof on. Had some difficulty getting the snap connectors engaged in some spots. Had most difficulty getting hinge retainers on and then to stay on. "Absolutely" need to install on a level flat surface. If not level, the doors will not close properly. I installed on the most level grass surface in my yard that I could find and thusly had some issues. If I had to do over, I would dig out the grass area and put in a solid sand surface and/or patio blocks. A cement slab would be ideal. Overall, putting it up was fairly easy and the durability of the product seems good.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great shed if you can get it at a good price I purchased this shed a month ago at a sale price. I had a very specific space I wanted to put a shed between my house and a block wall. This one fit perfectly with about two inches on either side. The shed was incredibly easy to put together. With the exception of the roof - which requires two people - I did it myself in about two hours. That included adding in the 2x4's for the base. I was put the shed on a fairly level paver patio, but decided to add the 2x4's for extra support since they are cheap and were easy to install. One great feature about the shed is the directions include instructions for building two shelves out of plywood. They were easy to build and fit in perfectly. As I was reading reviews prior to purchase, I saw a comment that someone didn't like the fact there are no hooks that can be purchased to hang items. While true, there is a work around. Throughout the inside walls of the shed are various "holes" in the paneling. I used cut some 2x3's and used toggle bolts in these holes to attached the 2x3's to the walls in various places. Then I bought some cheap hooks to screw into the 2x3's. I wouldn't hand anything too heavy on them, but I now have a lot of options for hanging items. Overall, i recommend this shed if you can get it at a discount. The only reason I am not giving 5 stars is because I don't know about the durability over time. I live where summer temps reach 115+, so I'm curious to see how this shed holds up.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Quality of craftsmanship leaves something to be desired The item arrived via curbside delivery in two large boxes. It took two of us with medium skill level about three hours to assemble the shed. Unfortunately some parts were bend out of shape and in some instances the manufacturing process left some plastic that should have been cut off. We had to use a lot of ingenuity (and various tools) to be able to complete the assembly. The instruction were fair, and could have been more precise on some steps (i.e. the orientation of some panels appeared to be indifferent but in fact mattered). I purchased it on sale and would have been disappointed considering the quality if I had paid full price.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Storage Shed This storage shed is very tall compared to others that I compared. Received it for 1/2 price on Cyber Monday with free shipping. A lot of the plastic pieces were bend and broken like they just stacked the boxes on top each other. Forcing the pieces to fit and snapping everything into place took about 3 hours. The final product is nice however. I used a metal bar in the roof to keep it sturdy and a 2X4 that I used to build the base with inside to level it so the doors would close.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Product - I read other reviews of this shed, and decided to buy it for my lawn tractor storage. Others had said to make sure that you have a very level base for the floor. Built a 4x4 frame base to get it off of the ground a little, and leveled that, so the 2x4's that support the floor rested evenly. Most of the time spent "building" this shed was in leveling my own base. After screwing the floor down to the 2x4's it was approximately an hour's worth of snapping pieces together (with the help of another). Roof is a bit tricky to snap in, but if you're careful like they instruct you to be, it works out fine. Wish their were shelves that you could buy for it, but you can construct your own to hold light things. Would not recommend putting heavy things to hang from walls or ceiling.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Shed, Great Deal. Placed on 4x4s on uneven patio. Purchased this for half regular price during an Internet sale. Definitely worth it. A smaller 5x5 storage unit nearby was going to cost over $1350 per year to rent, and this is more convenient since it's in my yard. Placed the shed on existing patio pavers that are somewhat uneven and heaved. To stabilize, used the five 2x4s suggested in the directions, but also added three 4x4s (front, middle and back) beneath them to ensure a solid and even base. To ensure the base was plumb, I screwed the 2x4s to the 4x4s on a level deck and then moved the base onto the uneven pavers to complete assembly. Only other hitch was I had to use a small flathead screwdriver to get two of the roof connector tabs to snap into place (placed into hole at angle and into tab, then straightened to snap tab into place). The tabs would not engage by simply pushing the two halves together. Now I can declutter my basement!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Buy! I've been looking for a simple tool shed for awhile, so when Home Depot advertised this one at 1/2 price, with free shipping I couldn't resist. Except for the time it takes to be sure your setup area is perfectly level, the rest is fairly easy. You'll need help puttitng the top assembly on, but that's about all. It's nice to be able to use the garage again!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easier to assemble than I expected We bought it on-line through a one-day special price. Home Depot delivered the very large boxes to our house for free and timely. (Dude had a great attitude too!). Easier to assemble than I expected, better quality than I expected. Seems sturdy, durable and lockable. We are very happy with the shed that blends into our small condo yard comfortably.
