You would open the top first. I think this photo will show you how the top fits over the front door. It has a channel that fits over the door for a snug connection, and you can see the metal piece you can put a lock on to hold the roof down. (Not that the unit is actually secure if someone wants to pry the panels apart... it's plastic, after all.)

Depending upon the size and handlebar configuration, you may be able to hang your bicycles in a vertical shed.

Multi-Purpose 3 ft. x 7 ft. 4 in. Resin Split Lid Storage Shed is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 160.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very useful storage I needed a 7-ft long horizontal watertight storage box. I was considering a deck box like what boaters use at their deck, but couldn't find one long enough. This HD box was just what I needed, but kind of expensive. Assembly is not difficult. One problem is that I loaded this box w/ many steel, corrugated hurricane shutters, laid flat and stacked up. The weight of the hurricane shutters flattened the bottom of the box and pulled the sides out of alignment. Considering the weight I was trying to load into the box, this was not a surprise. I ended up strengthening the floor and sides with 2x2 wood strapping pieces; and it's fine now. I liked this product so well I ended up buying a second one. I've had both of these boxes for over 3 years and they've both stayed perfectly dry.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Suncast deck box Surprisingly good quality; although the instructions (per usual) could have been clearer, it was still fairly easy to assemble. The box is pretty solidly constructed and well joined at the seams. My word of caution is this: make sure you need something this large. It's massive - ended up being too big for us, and despite getting a great deal on it, I had to return it. I made the mistake of installing the hinges, which seemingly cannot be removed, before assessing the footprint of the box, so I had to return it with the lid and back sections hinged to one another. Return process couldn't have been easier; I brought it, unboxed, to Home Depot store and they refunded the total, no questions asked.

Low profile allows it to be placed under a window. Relatively easy to assemble when you follow the order given in the instructions. Front doors do not have real hinges but rely on flexing of the plastic which will eventually fail. This is main reason I didn't give it 5 stars. Some means of holding the lids partially open would be nice. Doesn't have to be gas cylinders, just some kind of prop.

Not a drip of water got in during a torrential rain storm - impressive. The split-top lid provides easy access & stays closed even during breezy days. Two things might help with that. 1-It's installed on the leeward side of the house, sheltered from the wind; & 2-It's put together correctly. Keep in mind, it's not a "permanent" structure - it's a resin shed. Altho the lid is fairly heavy, it's designed to open with simple human strength - a strong direct wind would probably blow it open if it's facing directly into the wind &/or not secured or weighted-down. The double-wall (vs single wall) panels make this a solid, quality-built storage unit. Quick & easy assembly. The shipping box - OMG - super-heavy, very thick cardboard - it took a hacksaw to dismantle it into pieces small enough for the 95-gallon recycle bin. This is a great storage container - definitely recommend!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is the one If you are looking for that BIG storage for all your outdoor cushions and pillows, this is the one big enough to hold even the chaise lounge cushions. It is big, but easy to assemble. Very pleased. Note in general about HD store delivery. When you order something this big, call ahead so they can bring it up before you get there.

Keeps our unsightly lawn, garden, patio accessories out of sight. Access from the top and front is good. Easy to assemble. Important to lay on flat/level surface. I needed to take extra steps and lay down a bed of gravel. After a couple of recent rain storms it appears waterproof enough. If you are looking for a strong storage container to prevent loss, or to store heavy items this item would not be my choice. The resin construction and method of assembly together with the locking mechanism are not designed for loss prevention. My unit arrived with a faulty end piece, Suncast customer service was excellent and is replacing the faulty end piece.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So far so good I've assembled the product, but it is currently still in my garage so I haven't weather tested it yet, but so far I'm happy with it. It is very good size, pretty simple to put together and seems very sturdy. The two piece lid is helpful because one piece would be on the heavy side. I read some other reviews that said this was difficult to assemble, but it maybe took 20 minutes for 1 person to do. Everything snaps together and there are a few plastic screws to hold the rest together. It will take 2 people to carry it to its final location, but I knew that when I started.
