Customer Questions & Answers

Does the shed meet central FL wind load requirments?

Suncast Tremont 13X8 BSM8130
Asked by: ptrsan
The shed is tested and withstands 65 MPH winds. Doors needs to be secured and shed needs to be properly anchored in the required foundation. We recommend you check with your local agencies for more information regarding if the unit meets state, city and county requirements. Suncast Representative

Would seriously doubt it. The wall and roof material are thinly blown resin fastened with sheet metal type screws.

Does shed fasten to foundation to prevent wind blow over?

Asked by: Vinny
Check on line for details of site preparation. Concrete foundation (but questionable about how to fasten flimsy floor material to concrete) or standard wood floor joist framing. BUT check out recommended floor framing details for the building you choose as the joist spacing is NOT standard.

Tremont 13 ft. 2-3/4 in. x 8 ft. 4-1/2 in. Resin Storage Shed is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 26.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from The quality control procedures in the manufacturing and packaging of the Suncast Tremont Storage ... The quality control procedures in the manufacturing and packaging of the Suncast Tremont Storage Shed were a bit shoddy. One floor panel was deformed, rendering it unusable. One wall panel was so thinly made that sunlight could readily be viewed from the inside. A long wall adaptor was missing. The flooring panels are very flimsily constructed, deflecting when walked upon. The outward architectural appearance of the shed is very pleasing to the eye, compared to other products considered.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from 8 x 13 Suncast Shed Product installation instructions are actually quite good - some of the metal parts not marked so important you have lots of space to lay out all the parts. I put it together on my own and it probably took me at 24 hours in aggregate (there is a lot of pre-assembly work required before assembling floor/walls, etc.) and I assembled in clear summer weather (no rain, or wind to deal with). Suggest you block a complete weekend and start early morning. I did have one damaged side panel and was not looking forward to waiting for SunCast to deliver a replacement, but fortunately the Home Depot store swapped me a panel from their stock (thank you Home Depot - you saved me a week's delay!!!!)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Nice I was replacing my existing Arrow metal shed with another one. Just before I started to put it together I decided to invest in something better and return the metal one. I liked the idea of something that wouldn't rust. I chose instore pickup. It came on a long pallet. I thought I could lay down the boxes in a van but they were over 4ft wide so borrowed a truck and returned to the store. The forklift loaded it and was so long the tail gate had to stay open. I got it home and I unstraped it and pushed each box off one by one, 3 total. There were two lg boxes which are the 8x10 std shed and a 3ft expansion kit in the third box. Everything went easly together and it is way nicer than what I would have had. This was totally worth the 3x cost than the metal shed. The sky lights are way more effective than I thought they would be since they look so small online.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice shed for the money Actual shed measurements are not as listed. For example, the width is listed as 8 ft. 4 1/2 inches, however, the shed is really just under 8 feet. Roughly 7 feet 11 inches (outside measurement). I built a pad according to the size dimensions listed and now the pad sticks out around 3 inches on each side and 2 to 3 inches in front and back. I guess it is better to large than to small. Shed went together very well with mainly just me putting it together. I did finally convince my wife I needed help with the top roof screws. There is no way someone could push down on the shed roof (outside) and then screw in the screws from the inside. I got on the roof and stood on the peak of each section while my wife got the screws in. Besides that part, one person can put it together. Really important to have a level surface to build it thou, as without, the panels would not screw together correctly. I got this shed for firewood storage, and as such the walls are not strong enough to support weight against them without bowing out. So I ended up framing up the walls with 2x4's and plywood. Lost a bit of storage space with that. If the company would provide the full length metal side supports for the shed it would have been strong enough. They are just trying to save money by not doing that. I guess we will see if the plastic holds up in the long run.
