can i add a rear door set

Asked by: glenn
Thank you for your question, Glenn. If you elect to modify Suncast products in any way, it is at your own risk. Damage to parts or the entire unit will not be covered under the Suncast warranty. To add a rear door safely to the Suncast Tremont storage shed is physically impossible. If you were to attempt to put an entrance on the rear wall on our 8x16 shed, even if you were to buy all of the right components, the front corners would not interlock with the rear floors. Thank you for your concerns and your interest in Suncast products.

Tremont 16 ft. 3-1/4 in. x 8 ft. 4-1/2 in. Resin Storage Shed is rated 3.8 out of 5 by 13.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from The BASE of this shed is 16' x 8', not 16' 3 1/4" x 8' 4 1/2". 16' 3 1/4" x 8' 4 1/2" is the wid... The BASE of this shed is 16' x 8', not 16' 3 1/4" x 8' 4 1/2". 16' 3 1/4" x 8' 4 1/2" is the width and length of the roof, not the base. Tools needed show a 7/16 socket & ratchet and a crescent wrench---not!, leave the crescent in your tool box and grab a 7/16 wrench, you'll be glad you did. Tools needed shows a phillips head screw driver; if you have one and know how to use it, use your screw gun. I know they recommend not using one, but if you remember you're building a plastic shed, not a battleship, you'll save yourself hours of tedious hand screwing. And there are hundreds of screws to screw in. READ THE INSTRUCTIONS START TO FINISH BEFORE YOU START BUILDING!!!! The instructions are very good but you can get ahead of yourself on two minor items if you don't read the instructions front to back first. All of that being said, the shed went together very easily. I built it myself with help only being needed on the last roof panel. And that was because I couldn't be on the outside pushing the panel in place and on the inside screwing it down at the same time. It seems very well designed and I believe it will hold up for years. It looks really good!!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Well thought out design. Floor dimensions aren't quite as large as the pad they say to create. The 8x16 shed arrived in 4 boxes, delivery was no problem. Boxes were complete, no parts were missing. The overall shed design appears to have been well thought out. I assembled it almost by myself, I needed help for the last roof panel on the left hand side. That's where you'll run into trouble if your base isn't dead level. Maybe it's going to be difficult, even on a completely level base, because this is where the whole building is drawn together. I couldn't have finished the install without help. The metal reinforcing seem to be sensibly located, I don't think it'll fall down without a fight. I could have lived without the little skylights, they take a lot of time to install and create holes and the potential for leaks in the roof that didn't have to be there. I could have lived with a dark shed interior. The base isn't exactly 196 inches, like the manual says. It's a little smaller. If you're building a platform for the shed, you might want to pull the floor sections out of the boxes and assemble them for an exact size. Overall this shed appears to be a good value.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from GOOD, STRONG SHED Strong, well made shed. I hired a good handyman to take care of the job for me. First he poured a four inch thick 9'X18.5' concrete slab with gravel and rebar for strength. Let cure 2 days. Then, he put up the shed. He had to stop when Suncast left off 4 support parts. I called Suncast and they shipped the missing parts out the next day. In 4 days I had the parts. Shed was finished. Very little trouble putting it up. I paid $550 for the slab. $400 to the handyman. Worth every penny. Inside it is light and dry. The little skylights work perfectly. A concrete Slab is the way to go. I live in Florida and we have plenty of rain. The slab keeps everything raised and no flodding. So far...1 week I am very pleased with the quality of this product. RHH

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Best. Plastic. Shed. For the price (it was on sale for $1099) this is the best value for plastic shed. It's roomy, good height and easy to assemble. However it's taking me 2 weeks to build one and here is why. The inital delivery was quick, but they shipped me 8x13 instead of 8x16, luckily I didn't have to return or exchange this mess and asked them to simply ship me 3' extension. Unforunately when I finally was able to put it together with 3' extension I found out I am missing another part, roof truss bracket and have to wait an additional week. They cheap out and ship smaller part using ground method while it took 3 days to receive 150 pound extension. Putting it all together. For the most part the assemly is easy, but you I did have to do certain things non conventional way. There are "millions" of screws and they recommend tightenning them all using manual screwdriver. I ignored this warning and used electric screwdriver to save my wrist. You have to be careful, but it does the job much quicker. Also, I had to drill metal truss holes because they were too narrow and I just couldn't fit the screw in. For the walls and floor and even fitting roof truss, it's a one man job, but when putting roof in it's best done by two people. Floor, I don't like the plastic floor filling, I mean it might be durable, but it does flex and it actually sits on concrete base. I am planning to put some covering on top of it. Skylights are nice, but a bit small and don't provide much light I though. I wish there would've been couple windows for such a big shed.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from easy to assemble with help We purchased the shed and 2 extender pks. it arrived in 4 large boxes about the size of a car. once we checked that all the pieces were there it was quick to assemble. we did it in 3 days. first was building a platform. we did not go with the concrete slab we now wish we had. much simpler than the plat form which must be squared at all times. next day laid the flooring and the sides. they went up with great ease. we chose not to screw down the floor till after the shed was assembled to allow for shifting. then we added the supports for the roof. difficulties there. that took the longest. one person can do it but best done with 2 and a sturdy ladder. 3rd day finished putting on roof. went great. there are a few places that did not match completely thats where being able to shift the floor a little helped.and bolting down after words worked out best for us. we really like the results and the look of the unit. at first it looked flimsy but once it was all together it is really sturdy. will purchase again in the future. over all took 4 hours each day. could be done in 2 , one for the deck( subfloor) and 8-10 hours then for the assembly. Husband and I are 45-50 in age and we did it our selves. except when it came to the roof braces ,we need one more persons help there. Only major difficulty was the support assembly that needed patience and tweaking constantly. defiantly need extra person for that. over all a great weekend project.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Assembly Problems Maybe a shorter Suncast shed would have been better for me. The 16-ft. shed is actually an 8-ft kit, with two extension kits. I'm 72. It took me and my wife several days to put this together. After the boxes were emptied and discarded, the shed parts sat in the sun for several days. The darker parts, the floor and roof panels, warp when left in the sun. The warping made it difficult to assemble. A lot of 'jerry-rigging' and caulking was needed.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Shed! Great shed with plenty of room and looks great. Putting the floor and walls together was a very simple and straight forward process, that took about 2 hours. The roof is a different story all together. The right side was fairly simple, but getting the left side to line up was extremely difficult. Had to take almost all the roof supports apart and then put the roof panels on with the supports loose. Once the roof was aligned properly I went back and secured the support pieces. The roof took about 4 hours to assemble.
