Can this unit be used on a vent opening on the ceiling?
Asked by: BB
This unit has a fairly short cord. So, yes, you can use it on a vent opening in the ceiling but you'll have to figure out how to run the power to it.

Flush Fit Register Booster Fan in White is rated 3.3 out of 5 by 140.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fixed hot Bedroom My daughter's bedroom in her new apartment was 2-3 degrees hotter than the living room and other 2 bedrooms. This slid right in and replaced the wall register. We acclimatized it to the temperature before turning on the air and set the rheostat according to the directions. Then turned the AC on and voila! The bedroom showed 73 as well as the rest of the house.

We have a room that needed more cooling / heating at the end of the duct run upstairs. The room has (2) registers, but we only needed to install one to make a difference. The first unit was DOA, but their Tech Support replaced it immediately, and we have been very happy with the results and performance. We also found that cutting the 2 grill circle panels in the back of the unit (facing into the duct) made for more air flow and quieter operation. Took 2 mins to remove with wire cutters. After the product proved it self out, we purchased a second for another room. It works great, and the pricing is right making it a low risk purchase !

One worked fine and did an excellent job cooling the room farthest from the air handler. The other would not turn on unless the plug was at a certain angle and not entirely plugged in. Even then, the controls were malfunctioning. The "On" and "Heat" modes would only turn on if the fan was on high (quite noisy). The "Cool" mode was not working at all. I returned the defective fan and ordered another. It too is defective. The "Mode" button does not work at all. The "Fan" button controls the "Mode" and there is no way to control the fan speed. I am hesitant to use the fan which works because of the obvious quality control issues at the factory.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Wish it came with a remote! I think it works great. It does what I need it to do on my sloped ceilings. Although, I do wish it came with a remote, so it can be turned on and off from the other side of the room.

This product proved unsatisfactory for my intended use of it, and I promptly returned it. Specifically, it was simultaneously too weak and too noisy. You might think a very powerful fan would be noisy and a quiet one would be weak, but this one had both defects at the same time. I intended to use this to cool a bedroom which was not getting sufficient airflow from the central HVAC system duct. In use, it hardly increased the airflow at all, and had negligible effect on room temperature, even though the air coming out of the duct was cold. And, the noise from this unit in operation was enough to interfere with watching television in the same room, even though the unit was located on the floor behind a dresser. I was disappointed, because an in-register booster fan would seem to be exactly the right technology to solve my problem.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Works ok. Hard to get thermostat adjusted. The unit does work good and boost the air a decent amount not alot by any means but good enough. The problem I have is setting the thermostat on the unit for it to come on. You want the unit to come on when the air comes on but once I got that setting right a few days later I would have to adjust again and so on. It would start not coming on a all with the air and have to be adjusted again. If the fans don't come on then there is a lot of resistance and you are worse off than before. Then if you adjust it to come on sooner it will never go off. All that being said, it works good but is to hard to get adjusted for proper operation.
