Can I use this controller to slow down an induction motor whole house fan?

Can I use this controller to slow down an induction motor whole house fan?
Asked by: MxPapa
Hello, You will need to contact the whole house fan manufacturer to see if their motor is compatible. Not all fan motors are rated for use with a variable speed switch. Thanks, Suncourt

Will this work on a Dremel?

Will this work on a Dremel?
Asked by: Ed
Hello, This switch will work on shaded pole or permanent split capacitor motors with a maximum Amp rating of 2.5 or less. I am not familiar enough with Dremel tools to know about their specific motors. I would suggest contacting Dremel with the model number and see if their motor is compatible. Thanks, Suncourt.

Plug In Variable Speed Controller Solid State is rated 3.1 out of 5 by 11.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worked fine The fan rattles a bit at slower than half speed, but that isn't the fault of the controller. Still successful at reduction of fan speed and noise.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Variable control It worked very well , slowed down the fan so noise level was less. Did exactly what it was supposed to do.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does this product work? This product worked perfectly for me and absolutely could not be easier to install. There have been previous reviews stating that this speed controller does not work and to avoid it. As I read those other reviews, it states that they are using "centrifugal" fans and not "in line" fans. The Suncourt website specifically states that this Variable Speed Controller is for use with all of their "in-line" fans, so that should put to bed in conflicting reviews.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Didn't work I loved the design. On the surface it was exactly what I was looking for, and was a little irritated the Home Depot does not carry this in the store. When I received the product, it did not work - no juice coming out, so rating is because of this. Had it worked, I think the cost was still too high - well over $30 with shipping. Still, to Home Depot's credit, I was able to return to the store for full refund, including shipping charges.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Didn't Work When I read other reviews saying this didn't work at all, I didn't believe them. Operator error maybe? Well, I ordered this along with Suncourt's 6 in. Centrifugal fan, and I now I completely agree with other reviewers. I literally could not tell a difference between the knob turned to 100% versus being turned all the way down. I can also agree that this thing seems to cause the fan motor to make a nasty sound, which made me very concerned about what it was doing to the motor. Oh well, Home Depot was happy to let me return it, and I just let the fan run 100% all the time and it works great.
