I purchased this inverter 1000 watt Pure Sine Wave Inverter Pro Series to use in emergency times when the power was out. But I also like to experiment with things. I am retired and my wife and I need some kind of emergency power. I want to say I have other inverters that are modified sine wave but they will not run nothing but some lights. But we needed something to run our induction motors because the modified sine wave would not even start them. I tested this inverter on two induction motors one of which was me drill press with a 1/4 hp motor and the other is a 1/3 hp induction motor. The 1/3 hp motor has a running watts of 800 and it takes about 2X that to start it but this inverter will start and run it with no problem. The plastic fins on the outside are only dust covers design to look good. The real heat sinks are mounted on heavy heat sinks on the inside so when the fan comes on to cool, it directs the cool air flow straight through the heat sink and coils. This fan hardly ever comes on unless the inverter in at almost full power output. I will say this is a very well built inverter and if you know anything about electronics you will appreciate this quailty that is built into this product. I am a Electronics Engineer so I do know something about inverters. I rigged up a 3hp gas motor to a delco 105 amp alternator which has a built in regulator and I am using just a car battery because all my power in coming from the alternator and the battery is only there so the alternator will work this way you can use a cheaper battery because it never goes dead with the gas motor running. The reason I use this setup is because keep in mind that you will have to have a large bank of deep cycle batterys for long time use. You can get the larger inverter then you can have a 4500 watt power plant to run just about anything in your home. I only needed the 1000 watt inverter. Keep in mind that a Pure Sine Wave Inverter uses more power that the modified sine wave inverters. It works well on just a battery to but you will need to keep it charged often. To make a long story short, the setup I make above will give you the same power that a gas generator provides at the same rates watts and the sine wave is much cleaner than the gas generator. I have monitored all the out puts from this inverter and it has a 60hz 118v ac with 1000 wats steady output. I give it a 5 *+

I use this inverter on an RV to run a toaster,coffee maker, flat screen tv, sat box,ect. runs these with ease. I use 3 100ah agm batterys. Does not come with mounting brackets. Remote control is a plus.

Pros: overall, the SunForce 1000 watt inverter is a nice unit. During power outages, it produces clean power for my computers (I work from home sometimes) which I run off of an Optima sealed battery, periodically recharging it using the my car.
Cons: hidden in the manual, the 1000 watts is split across the two 115 volt outlets meaning that only 500 watts is available on each. During a power outage in the winter, trying to run a 900 watt room heater from 1 outlet won't work.

Meter displays are not accurate but are quite usable once you understand they are not exact volt or amp displays.voltage display is low by @ 0.6 volts and the amperage display is high by @ 10 ma for every 100 ma measured.

This is the second one I have purchased. The first is in a camp and works so well I had to get a second unit for a truck. No mounting brackets so I made my own. I purchased a cheeper one for the truck but did not last this one is great. The unit showed up when it was promised. I am very happy.
