Product Overview

The Sunoptics Prismatic 26-5/8 in. x 38-5/8 in. Venting Double Hip Skylight is an energy efficient way to properly illuminate the interior of your home while allowing the added benefit of natural air ventilation. Sunoptics prismatic designs provide up to 50 percent more light than traditional white bubble skylights while also providing 100 percent diffusion to eliminate hot spots while providing glare-free natural light for more hours per day. The superior frame provides moisture protection redundancy and a fully insulated thermal break that encapsulates the underside of the frame to greatly reduce condensation concerns. Add value and visual comfort to your home by utilizing high performance prismatic skylights from Sunoptics.

  • Prismatic lenses provide the maximum amount of light with 100 percent diffusion while eliminating hot spots and glare
  • Triple glazed, impact-modified acrylic prismatic lenses provide additional thermal protection while maximizing visible transmission of light compared to conventional plastic skylights
  • Double hip-shaped lens design collects daylight at lower sun levels when compared to flat lenses
  • Powder-coated bronze aluminum frame is fully welded and sealed eliminating expansion and contraction concerns as well as thermal bridging that can come from mechanically attached frames
  • Multi-surface wet seal and integral condensation and exterior weep gutters drain any interior moisture out of the frame and away from the building reducing exposure to moisture penetration
  • Manual skylight operator with integral bug screen provides ventilation for the space without allowing pests indoors
  • Vent operation requires the sunoptics telescopic venting operator pole (sold separately)
  • Flashing kit available for curb installation (sold separately)
  • AAMA certified to US and Canadian standards

can you see thru this skylight or is the view of the outdoors obstructed? Could I look out this prismatic double hip skylight and see things outside clearly
Asked by: mark
It's translucent. You can not see out, or in. I have owned one for over 17 years and need to replace due to me damaging it while on the roof. The light transmission, diffusion, and quality of light color really are superior to that of ordinary plastic bubble lights.

Pole operable?

Is this window compatible with the pole/hook to open/close the skylight? Does one need to purchase the hook adapter to go on the window or is the window already compatible? Is the glass translucent or clear?
Asked by: TT
Yes, this product is pole compatible.

Access to my roof

With the venting hatch open can I climb up & thru the venting hatch to my roof?
Asked by: Colonel
No, I wouldn't recommend it as the top piece with the lens is not attached to the curb except for the chain that is used to open it. If I were you I would find a ladder that can reach.

Customer Reviews

Prismatic 2 ft. x 3 ft. Venting Curb-Mounted Double Hip Skylight is rated 3.0 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from High Quality Product for Very Good Price I live a few miles from the Sunoptics factory where these skylights are built...these are completely US made products...not just a repackaging terminal. The unit if very impressive (I ordered two of them and have gotten them already) and works well. A note...contrary to the informatoin on the Home Depot website, all the skylights come with insect screens, so you can leave the skylights open without fear of wasps, flys or leaves entering the space below. I'm very impressed with the quality of the product and the price point...

Rated 1 out of 5 by from warped I ordered two of these skylights. Both came 1 inch out of wack. They would not sit flush. Client insisted we installed them. I had to use a ton of caulking to fill..... bad manufacturing and quality control..
