Customer Questions & Answers

do the 36-inch white foam horizontal closure strips work better than the brown 24-inch rigid plastic closure strips?

Wondering what the difference is and what situation is appropriate to each of these items.
Asked by: reindeermoss
Depends on the situation. If you're using it for structural support, or need it to breathe, use the plastic. If you want a moisture/vapor seal, use the foam.

Are these flexible enough to use against a curved surface?

We are building an arched greenhouse wall on our shed and want to use them along the arch. The "ribs" of the panel will be horizontal so we need these to be capable af bending and forming to the arch.
Asked by: Mike
Yes they are flexible enough to conform to the arch, and soft enough that they will likely compress to accommodate the pressure caused by the ridges being compressed at the base, but...you won't know for sure until you test it. I believe it's worth the investment to find out.

clarification on what's in package

are there 5 - 36 inch foam closure strips in each package?
Asked by: Chief
Yes, plus a few extra "joints" to complete the seal at the ends of the run.

I have had these panels long enough that the foam strips have disintegrated and I need to replace them. I purchased the new style plastic closure strips only to find that they don't fit my older panels. Did the manufacturer change them? Can anyone confirm the corrugations to be 1 3/4 centers, or different? I can't find them in stock locally to measure them. Thanks in advance.
Asked by: OldSchool
The foam closure strips are 3" on center to match the corrugated panels. To my knowledge, nothing was changed. The plastic closures can be ordered online at homedepot.com. We also offer a wood closure strip online as well.

Neither the hard plastic nor the soft foam strips close the ends to anything remotely close to air tight. Exchanged a set of hard strips for these, I still end up with a 1/4" gap unless I tighten the screws excessively. Plastic doesn't like to be forced. They also have to be stretched at least 2" to get the crests and valleys to line up. Foam has memory, and the strips will creep back to original length in short order. Spare yourself and your pride as a craftsman. Find a pattern for greca76/18 corrugation profile online and print it out 100%. Spray glue it to a piece of fence rail and cut it out with a jigsaw.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not for greenhouse use After finally getting my husband to build a greenhouse, we mistakenly used these closure strips in the roofing panels. After one summer, they melted and turned black. I'll never get him to take them out now and my beautiful greenhouse is ugly with black streaks running down the roof.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good closures Closures have 2 options - plastic or foam. I prefer the foam to dampen the noise from wind. Costs are fair. My only complaint is that after 7 years the sun has caused the foam to deteriorate to an extent that replacement was necessary.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Stick with the wood strips Don't waste your time with the foam closure strips, they will only leak no matter how tight you screw down the screws that are recommended for the roofing sheets. I replaced my roof 2 years ago with the foam strips instead of wood, big mistake. I have tried to tighten up the screws to stop leaks but all you end up doing is distorting the roof panels. My roof leaks more now at most of the screw penetrations then it did after Sandy had her way with it. I had wood strips before but they were destroyed when the old roof was removed.(ring shanked nails).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product I have used the wooden closure strips for past projects and had problems with splitting. These worked great and were very easy to install. I had no problems with them and would highly recommend them!
