I am replacing all of my gear driven units with the pop-up impact style...about 20. They are so much easier to control to not have over spray all over the sidewalk, road, car, etc. IF, you buy the right ones. I purchased three of these from H.D, (I love this place), and one of them did not work straight out of the box. It got jammed up on the return cycle and nothing I do can correct it. The other two are both doing the same thing after 4 weeks. They are all going straight into the trash, and I am replacing them with the other brand that are still working beautifully after more than 1 year. H.D should not carry this product...it is junk! Now I am replacing my replacements...Lesson Learned. Pay the extra $5 and get the good ones.

What more could anybody ask for? This pop-up impact sprinkler was easy to install and, after some initial adjustment, it effectively sprayed the designated area without wasting water with overspray. I now have a set of three of these sprinklers and look forward to enjoying a luscious green lawn. Many thanks to Home Depot and their well trained associates.

Poor design and plastic parts make this an extremely poor choice for a sprinkler replacement. Spend the extra money and get a high quality unit. Will save you a lot of irritation and time replacing yet again!

Canadian price ($21.98) is way too high and quality is no better than in the US! They still stick!

I purchased this as a replacement for an older head made by a compeditor (which looks identical except for color.) It does the job but if I don't keep an ear or eye on it it occasionally jams, i.e. it locks up in one position. The old head did the same thing.

I bought this because it was cheap. It worked for 9 months, then it wouldn't retract. Since it comes with a 6 year warranty, Orbit sent me a new one. When I installed the new one, it doesn't rotate. Even when I rotate by hand, I can feel resistance. I contacted Orbit again, but Orbit no longer responds to my email. Don't buy anything from Orbit.

I install 3 of these in my back yard and have had to replace them in the past 3 months 4 times. They get stuck on the return cycle in a fix positon and flood the area. Do not buy unless you like the frustation and hassle of taking them apart and replacing the stem for a new one, just to have them fail a month later. I will try to fit the rainbird in the same canister , but if it doesnt fit there goes a whole day digging these out and replacing them.

Worst sprinkler ever. I bought 6 of these last season. Half of them stopped working then, the other half had to be replaced this season. The issue is with the rotation mechanism. They constantly get stuck at the return point. The head goes to its maximum angle then gets stuck when the lever is supposed to click back to make it return. Over and over and over again, these heads get stuck at that point. They then sit there and mock you as they spray water at one point on your lawn all the while making that annoying "stuck mechanism whine" You can see the thing trying to flip over, but it just wont work.
The only way I have been able to use these sprinklers effectively is to put them where they can rotate 360 degrees with no return needed. This is done by flipping the metal clip up so it doesnt even try to activate the return mechanism.
These are not worth even the attempt. I have been disappointed with every one I installed.
