Can I use this on my concrete family room.

I have a family room and a master bedroom on a concrete surface which currently is carpeted. I want to get rid of the carpet and was going to have hardwood floors put in. But can I use this inside my house? Can I do this instead of doing hardwood floors for budget purpose.

I have a very smooth back porch I want to paint. Do I need to sand it down to make it more rough to give the paint a better surface to bind?

Asked by: JGD
I've used this on a concrete basement floor that was quite smooth. To prepare the surface, I washed it with a TSP solution and then thoroughly rinsed. After it was good and dry, I applied the product and adhesion has been very good. As with any paint job, it's important for the surface to be clean and dry. I've also applied this to some Wolmanized stairs in my yard that would become extremely slick when wet. After a good cleaning with a solution of TSP and hot water followed by a water rinse and allowing the steps to dry, the paint was applied. Adhesion has been pretty good through 2 seasons from zero degrees to the hottest summer day. I'll probably re-coat them this summer to further build up the abrasiveness.

1 gal. Saddle Brown Acrylic Anti-Slip Concrete Paint is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 43.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Performed better than advertized Goes on like painting with pudding. When it dries put on a second coat. Not only is the finished product fabulous but it looks good too! I have this on an outdoor ramp/walkway coming off a deck. The product was applied to wolmanized like lumber. I used the brown tinted type to closely match the existing deck color. The result is a good looking non-slip finish. Feels like 120 grit sand paper has been way anyone will ever slip on this surface. Hopefully this product will last a few years before I have to re-apply. my opinion this product is worth the $35 per gallon price. I will buy this again. Two thumbs up.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Went on well and is looking great! I applied one coat on previously-slippery wooden steps. The first coat went on easy and clean up was a breeze. Twenty-four hours later I applied a second coat - my thinking was I wanted to maximize the non-slip aspect; truth is the appearance was good after one coat. Despite rain in the forecast later that evening, I felt I needed to go for it anyways. About 8 hours after I applied the second coat it rained. Additionally, the temperature was between 50 and 60 deg during the entire process. I was concerned, since the paint cleans up with water, that I would wake up to a mushy mess on the stairs. The next morning, the steps looked great and have cured nicely despite the rain and low temp.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Goes on Easily. Looks Good. Does NOT Hold up to moderate traffic. Even dragging a simple piece of pool furniture around on this will wear holes in it. The same gritty texture that provides a no-slip surface makes it prone to being damaged. Not bad stuff, but expect to have to do touch ups.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Coverage?? I used this product on a previously paint patio floor. I had 480 square feet to paint and applied 2 coats. I ordered 5 gallons because the manufacturer said a gallon would cover 120 sq. ft. I used only 2 gallons and their are no returns on this product. Luckily my Home Depot store took the remaining 3 gallons back and gave me a store credit. Be careful not to order too much of this product. Overall, it is a good product, but I believe the manufacturer should adjust the coverage on prepainted floors.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from good anti-slip paint We used this paint on our porches and stairs. It provides a good non-slip surface when wet or dry. Good surface prep is necessary, and it grips well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product for steps.. I used this on steps that would get slippery when wet. Problem solved, this puts a gritty surface down and eliminates slipping. Painting with this product is a breeze, it goes on like pudding, so paint drips are minimal..

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Patio/Porch Paint ever! Was easy to apply and covered both bare and painted areas on our concrete patio and porch. The color was great and the grit in the paint gives it a very good non-slip surface.
