Best way ro clean the surround wall

Example: I have looked at the manual and can't figure out what I did wrong.
Asked by: Bud
Swan Veritek tub/shower walls can be cleaned with common household liquid cleaners and a sponge or soft cloth. Abrasive cleansers, scouring pads or "leave on" cleaning products such as automatic spray shower cleaners are not recommended. Scale removers for hard water stains can be used. Our customer service department can be reached at 800-325-7008 should you still have some specific questions regarding cleaning products. Thank you for purchasing a Swan product for your home!

You actually have to build a support system to install this thing once it's glued in???
Asked by: Dianne
It is recommended to install a temporary bracing of 2" x 2" planks for 24 hours to ensure the adhesive is completely set. This step helps continuous contact between the tub walls & sub-strait. Thank you for considering Swan.

I removed an old glue-up surround and repaired the damaged drywall with new green board and taped the joints. A lot of old glue remained from the old surround on the remaining drywall so I applied more mud to even the surface and then sanded everything smooth. I then applied a drywall primer/sealer. I've since decided to go with Loctite Surround adhesive instead of the silicone. Upon reading the instructions on the Loctite, the first thing it says is: "Remove all paint..". First, is primer/sealer "paint"? And second: can I just rough up the surface and wipe it down and go with that or do I really need to remove all the primer that I applied?
Asked by: Eddie
Thank you for considering Swan products for your bathroom remodel. The use of paint / primer is to create an additional moisture barrier between the unit and wall surface. While paint and primer are different, primer penetrates and paint coats, Locktite should bond to it. Slightly roughing the wall will allow the Locktite to bond directly to the drywall. The most important step is to make sure the out edge of the TF-57-010 is sealed.

30 in. x 60 in. x 57 in. 5-piece Easy Up Adhesive Tub Wall in White is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 15.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Tub surround If everything in this world had perfect 90 degree lines, then this tub surround would of been a piece of cake to install. But since nothing is as pictured in the instructions. I had to really take time to install these panels. My tub had a drop, on the water end of things. Resulting in a 3/4 inch difference from the drain end to the other end. So I had to draw a line with a level, to carry the reference line on all three sides. Then after that line was made. Place a corner panel in (dry fit) and marked where the high and low points where. Then transferred those marks to the bottom of panel and belt sanded the line I transferred. So the panel would come out even with my wall markings. Every panel had to be done that way -dry fitted first and sanded material off the bottom, to come up even with my level line. The instructions say to put their tape exactly here and the caulk exactly there. Then start with a corner piece to apply to wall. Word of Warning. There is absolutely no room for error to move your panel into place to meet your line once that tape meets the wall. This is a very hard product to install, because after the panel is set, I used 2x2's with filler wood strips in sections, not to mare the panel. And to apply even pressure so the caulk would hold tight. So it took a lot of pressure sticks (homemade poles) and time to put up-overall about 4-5 days. I failed to mention that my first attempt started out somewhat good until I tried to put in the first corner piece with all the tape and caulk ready to go. Once it touched the wall I could not move it-due to the double stick tape. Tried to pull it away and reposition it, I broke the panel. So I had to basically order a whole new kit. I didn't us the tape the second go around. Just caulk near the edges and used wood strips to apply pressure to hold it tight against the wall This worked a lot better setting your panel to your level line. So $327 x 2 + a bunch of lumber-it would of almost been cheaper to tile the whole tub.

The tube surround is 1/8" thick - not thin like alot of them, making it easy to handle when installing. Went up quick after making the minor cuts because of the tapper of the tub. The only trying part was the installation of the bracing which took time. Make sure you throw the double faced tape away that comes with the kit as it is of no value but to give you grief after reading one of the reviews. (I called the company and they informed me it was just to help when installing the panels to the wall but did not say it had to be used. I did not use it and the panels stayed in place.) I found 2 different set of instructions for the installation of this tube surround, one is 3 pages that uses the double faced tape and the other is approx. 8 pages and not mentioning anything about the tape - use the 8 page instruction. It made a great improvement to the room.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 2nd purchase of the Tub surround Follow the instructions to a T. Especially the bracing which seems excessive but worth every 2x4 you need. Save them for the next install and they worked. The only negative was I ordered the first one on 3/3/2016 at a total cost of 283.26. The second order was placed on 4/12/2016 and the total cost was 327.28. A difference of 44.02 in a little over a month.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy enough This was my first ever home renovation project. I did have the help of a friend but I'm amazed at how good it looks and that I actually did it! Doesn't come with directions so you have to print them out from the website.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from pleasantly surprised! Tub surround wall material is of a very good quality, not as thin as I expected. Very good product for the price. Love the look. We have a 40+ year old house, and after removing all the old tile, mortar and wire backing, we installed it ourselves over prepared cement board walls with no mishaps. Easy to cut and trim, if necessary. No instructions or adhesive included. Customer Service at Swan was very helpful and informative. Instructions can be seen on line either in the manufacturer or Home Depot link. Customer Service informed me that they are no longer including the silicone adhesive in newer kits. so do plan on purchasing something at Home Depot separately, The silicone caulk and foam tape were included and very useful.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy to install Though not of the same thickness and quality as other Swanstone products, this product is much better than the tub surrounds from off the rack at Lowe's, Ace, or even Home Depot. It was easy to install and cleans up quite well. The kit included everything you needed to install the tub surround. It arrived within four days of ordering it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice Surround Ordered on line and product shipped for free to my local Home Depot store. Pick up was easy and I was able to inspect the carton before leaving the store. No damage to carton was noted. Doubt that would have been the case with UPS, FedEx or other delivery company. This is by far the nicest quality tub surround I have installed. The walls are quite thick but still easy to handle. I bought several tubes of the very best GE Silicone adhesive, which I applied generously, to make sure adhesion would be good. Installation was quite simple, but fabricating all the necessary bracing to hold everything in place while the adhesive dries took some time and additional money. Overall, a very nice quality surround at a reasonable price point. Note you must have computer access to download the installation instructions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy and functional This surround was pretty easy to install, it was a pain to cut the holes for the faucet and knob, but that is to be expected. I have a very narrow stairway that turns, so the 5 piece set was the obly option for getting it up the stairs to the bedroom and it fit perfectly. It is easy to keep clean and the shelves are perfect for shampoo, conditioner, and soap bottles.I highly recommend this surround.
