Customer Questions & Answers

Can I cut an opening for the window on the back wall about 40 by 28 inches?

Can I cut an opening for the window on the back wall about 40 by 28 inches?
Asked by: Genie
You might want to call the manufacture of the insert liner or a qualified installer on this one. Technically, you could cut out a piece out of the back (larger) insert. The question is whether that would compromise the integrity of the insert and more importantly what about leakage? You certainly don’t water to get behind the insert-liner. I am curious as to why there would be a window in that part of your bathing/showering area. Again, I am no expert—just a do-it-yourselfer in certain home projects, so you might to check with someone more qualified. Good luck!

Are the holes for faucet /tub spout pre- cut or do I cut my own ? Is there a nailing flange down the sides of any panels ? Would add studs if needed to attach securely.
Asked by: javajack
Hi, no there are no pre-cut holes as everyone's plumbing hardware fixtures are at different heights and locations. You need to cut these on your own. You better have very good measuring skills because if you get this wrong, you would need to buy a whole new unit--not just that one panel. Yes, there are nailing flanges on the panels. I hope this helps.

Can this tub surround be trimmed to fit a width of 56.5 inches instead of the 60 inches?

Asked by: belle
No. The way the long panel curves you wouldn't be able to trim the length.

Arrived in perfect condition a few days ahead of estimate. Seeing that I was installing the unit in an old bathroom with cast iron tub it went fairly well. The side wall sat well on the tub rim but the ends of the tub and studs were neither level nor square. Had to use hacksaw blade to trim bottoms of end panels so they would lock in place and the joints would seal with the long panel. I shimmed some of the old studs to get everything plumb . There are only two seams and where they lock together minimizes potential for leaks. If I had been installing this with the tub it was designed for it would have been a piece of cake. Panels are very sturdy and that made the job a lot easier .

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A very satisfied customer... This item is a special order product. It cannot be purchased at the store. So I orderd this item online and hoped that when it arrived, it would be exactly as pictured on the webpage. It was delivered sooner than I'd expected and when I inspected it, I was happy to see that it was even better than I had hoped it would be. I was only plannng to replace the bath walls since the tub was in good shape. However, I was so happy with this product that I went online and order the matching tub. It was delivered in less than 5 days and it's nice. I am very satisfied with this Home Depot online purchase and it was so easy to order these items online. Thanks Home Depot!!! TONY
