Can the panels be cut down for height if too tall for application?

Can the panels be cut down for height if too tall for application?
Asked by: SH
Yes, you can cut the side down. I used a saber saw with a 14 tooth blade and followed a straight edge to get a straight line. You have some width allowance in the corners as the moulding will cover up to 1/2 inch gap

If you need to repair/replace plumbing fixture, how do you gain access?

Asked by: Phish
I think you would have to remove the whole panel to replace the plumbing. I'm not sure this would be easy to do without damaging the panel as that pamel likely will have cut outs for the plumbing and the material may break through those cut outs.

can i cut in a window

Asked by: chesney924
I believe so. I didn't cut mine to add a window but I cut the edges to match my area to get the pieces to match at the joints and the top edge and it cuts easily. I used a saber saw with 14 teeth/inch. Be careful to follow a straight line

I used soap dishes from the tile area rather than Swan's over piriced and small size offerings and they worked well. If Home Depot doesn't have them (mine didn't) you might find them at a competitor's. Installation went well and it looks much better than the 5 piece fiberglass surround it replaced. Might want to experiment with adhesives to get the best ones. I found DAP's FIZ it glue (it's clear colored, not the gray Fiz-it adhesive that's in the 10 oz tubes) to be the strongest and used it to attach the soap dishes. The Fiz-it adhesive did a good job attaching the Swan material to the drywall, was better than the Gorilla adhesive but not a lot better, dryed faster and was at least as well attached as the Gorilla adhesive.

I had to rent a truck as the package is about 6'x6' and heavy and wouldn't fit in my CRV. Very clear instructions at the Swanstone website as well as a useful video. Customer service at Swanstone told me no matter what you're attaching it to (old tile in my case) be sure to use 100% silicone as it's the best for adhering the surround to the walls. I replaced flimsy panels and I'm very pleased as this surround is 1/4" thick and it looks great. FYI- you'll need about a dozen 2x4s for bracing and 5-6 tubes of silicone as well as 2 tubes of matching caulk. I also had to buy a different blades for my circular and my jig saw. I did not buy the shelf kit. The corner molding was a little taller than the panels but was easy to sand to the proper height. Additionally the corner molding is forgiving if you're off a bit with your cuts. I would not recommend this installation for a beginner but if you're semi-handy you could give it a go. Just follow the instructions carefully, measure twice and you' ll be fine.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from not for the faint of heart DIY'er I love how this looks! Installation went ok, my walls were not as square as I had hoped, so the corner molding was a necessity. Using the cardboard template helped for lining up the shower head, control and spout but not in determining the squareness of the wall. I chickened out of the recessed accessories as this was a remodel and my studs were not nice solid and straight from patchwork. The scariest part was making the cuts, knowing what I paid and how much I'd have to pay to replace a panel if I screwed up. My braces didn't look all nice and evenly placed like the directions, maybe a 3rd pair of hands could have helped in the set up of the bracing.
