Questions & Answers

Shower Body

The shower enclosure shows the shower head, and presumably the shower body, on the left wall (as you face the enclosure). Can the unit be purchased with the shower head on the right wall (as you face the enclosure)?
Asked by: Norman
Yes, this is not a problem. The side wall panels of the shower cabinet are interchangeable with placing the faucet on either the left or right hand side wall. Thanks for your interest in the shower cabinet.

Picture shows shower head on left wall, can it be on right wall?

Asked by: John
Dear Valued Home Depot Customer, We reached out to MFG for more information and below is their response. “Yes, you can install this shower cabinet with the faucet placement being on either the left or right side wall. The side panels are universal and can be used on either side.” Thanks The Home Depot User Generated Content Team

Customer Reviews

32 in. x 32 in. x 73 in. Free-Standing Fiberglass Shower Cabinet in White is rated 2.8 out of 5 by 27.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not A Bad Shower, With Modifications I just installed one of these in a small bath in a family rental cabin, again, as others have stated, there is little space, and options are limited. The shower pan fit like a glove, actually better than the old shower pan, the drain assembly was also straightforward. I have seen other post that the material is "flimsy", but I don't think that should imply cheap necessarily. Due to the tight tolerances between the panels and the moldings it has to be. The modifications I did were to attach the back panel, one side panel, as well as two sides of the top frame and plastic molding to hardieboard. This greatly increased the rigidity of the structure. I did away with the towel bar and soap dishes, opting for a shower caddy. I also opted for a metal shower arm and quality head, as the plastic one provided did seem to be low quality. Hint, gibe yourself plenty of room to attach the panels. You may find that the panels fit easily into the plastic moldings, but not so much with the front aluminum moldings. That was a fight. What worked for me was using some dish washing liquid along the edges of the panel, the tolerances were VERY tight, so some extra help was definitely needed. Otherwise, very satisfied, as this is an improvement over the plastic shower that preceded it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pretty decent product with one glaring deficiency I recently purchased this shower to replace a basement shower (Durastall) that I had in the basement and used everyday for over thirty years. I thought this fiberglass replacement was an upgrade from the plastic one to be replaced, and I think that overall it is, but I had and have one problem. The quality seems pretty good, and the installation instructions were easy to follow, the problem was as follows: The instructions said to place the fiberglass sides in the corner pieces, place in the grooves in the base and insert screws. I followed the instructions and completed the entire shower unit only to find that when I turned the water on, the shower leaked badly all around the shower base where the sides sit in the base grooves. I telephoned the manufacturer and when I explained my problem to the customer service representative, she responded, "yes that is a problem, You need to use slicone caulk where the sides meet the base".I asked her why the installation instructions did not specify that? She responded, " I don't know, but that's what it needs". I told her if that is what it needs, the instructions should indicate that, and it would help if the base grooves were deeper. She said she would notify the manufacturing department. So, I had to disassemble the whole shower unit , caulk the base grooves and reassemble. It still leaks some around the base so I will need to do further caulking. Once I get it sealed, it should be a good serviceable shower.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Too Expensive for what you get The contractor who installed this into a 3 wall space,(not free standing) said it was " a bad leak waiting to happen." Very flimsy wall panels and cheap plastic fittings. I had the contractor calk all the inside joints with clear silicone. Thankfully this serves as a basement shower and will not get a lot of use. Took a long time to assemble.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Shoddy Quality Control I had to buy this unit as I was replacing a Sears unit that was identical but which had developed leaks due to its age. All in all it was a good unit for my particular application. However there were several components that were damaged and it appeared they were damaged at the factory and not in shipping. HD offered to replace the unit and to reduce the price by 10% so kudos to them, but I couldn't wait another couple weeks as we had already gone two weeks with no shower at all in our Lake house. Swanstone needs to do better quality control at the factory before packing up damaged components.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Leaks badly Installation was easy, but apparently incomplete as the shower leaked on first use. I caulked the floor/wall joint and wall seams, but it still leaked around the screws -- all of them. Caulked again and thought I had it, but tenant used it and it still leaks. Very frustrating.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from free standing shower Anyone who would use this as their main shower has a screw loose. This is the cheapest piece of garbage Ive ever installed, and I've been installing baths and showers for over twenty years. Be smart, use a fiberglass pan and a framed, wonder boarded wall, and tile with a cheap tile if you want cheap but good. Dont cheap out on something that needs to be waterproof unless its a back-up shower in your basement or a cabin in the woods. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!! And remember, an installer will charge $400-500 to install this and will not guarantee something so flimsy!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from good for what I got it for I wouldn't recommend this for a main shower as it is flimsy, But it is just what I needed. I got this to use as a basement shower for people to rinse before or after using my hot tub. The all plastic construction means it won't rust out like the old one.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from very nice low cost shower replacement This is a drop-in replacement shower in a rental apartment. Though referred to as "free-standing", it's on the flimsy side. Because it's installed in a corner, we were able to add spacers and attach it to walls on 2 sides; now it's very stable and works perfectly. We expect it to hold up even under potentially hard use.
