Answer:
The model you select will determine where the drain is located and pre-made that way. Be sure to look at the manufacturers specifications because although the product description may say the drain "centered" it is not always centered from the back of the base to the front.

Model Numbers and Drain Type

I ordered Swan shower base model SF03248MD.010 from HD for $321.30. The model shown on the HD internet says it is solid surface and weights 49 lbs. The HD internet photo for that model shows what looks like chrome drain cover. When I picked up the base at HD it had the correct model number on the box, however the base itself appears to be the fiberglass model FF03248MD.010 with the the integrated white drain costing only $188.30 and weighing less than 49 lbs. White drain pic attached. Also, the actual base shows "Swan-KD-3248" on it. Is this any indication that the wrong base was packaged in the correct box? The base in the box appears to be a light plastic (fiberglass) product. I don't think it is the product I ordered costing over $300. Thanks.

Both material systems are quality products with a limited lifetime warranty for residential applications. Personal preference determines the consumer's purchase. If you lift the drain cover you should see the code S3248. This indicates you received the correct item. As noted in the product description these floors come with matching color drain covers. Answer:
The base entrance must be on the 48 inch inside because it is formed as the front shower entrance side and lower. The 32 inch sides are formed open, but normally covered by the backerboard or wall studs.

Answer:
Yes, these numbers are both the same product. SS-3248 is actually the model number and SF03248MD.010 is the part number down to the color code which is 010.

Rated 4.1 out of 5 by 18 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Solid base in true white color. I bought this base expecting a standard drain but it comes with only a rubber gasket and plastic drain cover, not metal as shown in the picture. However, the base is solid and bright white and would recommend. May 25, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great shower floor The solid surface material is fantastic. Consistent color throughout and so far the item seems extremely durable. The only concern I have at this point is how much dirt will show in the pebbled base but up to this point cleaning has been easy! Would highly recommend this over a cheaper fiberglass option. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by As advertised Came as advertised, easy to install, just as I had planned. December 23, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very solid It was a bit costly but I hope it's worth the money spent. January 12, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Not all shower pans are created Equal! This was purchased as a replacement for a Vinyl one that had cracked. After removing the old one, I realized that the drain holes didn't line up from the back wall to the center of the drain. Rather than chisel out a concrete floor and move the drain. I ended up cutting the wall base to allow the new pan to sit centered over the drain. In the end I made it fit, but next time I will just replace like for like and hope the out come goes easier. Hopefully this pan will never need to be replaced! July 22, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Pretty great, exactly what I needed Note to the previous reviewer, the description says: "pebbled texture for slip-resistant safety." which looks fantastic. Delivery was less than a week, and this thing is excellent quality. It's the solid surface Swanstone material you know and love, not the cheapo Veritek they're trying to push on the econobuyers. Installed in my basement bathroom into a cast-iron pipe. The integrated drain is the perfect size to use a donut to seal against the cast-iron. Follow the instructions to use a mortar bed, and it's solid as a rock. August 28, 2011
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Not Happy I received an email from Home Depot today that my shower base had arrived. I tore out the old one and went to pick up the new. When I was loading the new one in my SUV I noticed how light it was compared to the old. This product is very light duty and not sure if it would hold up under daily use. October 15, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by The shower base does not appear to be made out of the same material as their solid surface countertops. I have not installed it yet. I am disappointed with my first impression of this shower base (32x48 solid surface white color). I expected a product constructed more like their solid surface countertop but this is a much thinner base that seems closer to their Veritek line that the the solid surface material I was expecting. None the less it appears sturdy and based on others recommendations I am going to use in my bathroom remodel. May 13, 2014
