Being s plastic like material, is the tub loud when running the shower? Or is it quiet like a cast iron?

Asked by: Ryan
When running water in the tub, it will have a different sound than in a cast iron tub. However, because the bathtub is set in a bed of mortar, there will not be a hollow sound when running the water. We are not sure how it would compare on a noise level with a cast iron tub.

After family use multiple times each day for almost 5 years, there are no cracks, staining or any other apparent defects. One of the best things I bought for my bathroom re-do. The extra depth is a plus if you take soaking baths.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice Big Bathtub We really like the size of this tub - it is deeper and larger soaking room than most 60" x 30" tubs. Not much room for shampoo in the corners like most tubs. Nice and light so getting it in place was easy. Installation instructions are somewhat lacking - calls for a mortar bed but does not specify how much. Called Swanstone customer Service and the operator told us 1-1/2" under the grid - they obviously get that question a lot! The plastic cover that is to be kept in the tub during construction is a bit large, got in the way and often allowed debris to get under it - keep cleaning under it so you don't scratch the surface. Otherwise, we love the tub!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Swanstone tub It's difficult to find a 60 x 30" acrylic tub and when this arrived we were very pleased. It's sturdy, nicely shaped, comfortable to sit in and the installation directions are excellent. You certainly get your money's worth. One feature that you cannot see from the picture on the website is that the bottom of the tub has a scroll like design, which makes it slip resistent. While I didn't favor the look of the pattern when I unpacked the tub, once installed I could barely see it and I now appreciate how much it contributes to the safety of the tub. This one's a winner. I highly recommend it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from We love this tub! I wasn't happy with the choices of tubs in the store so I researched online and chose this one. When it came in, I thought it might be a little flimsy, but it looks awesome in the new bathroom and we have been standing on it and sitting in it for a few days installing the tile surround with no problems. Please note this tub is a lot lower to the floor than regular tubs and we had to get a plumber to install the drain so it would be right. But whatever hassle it caused is greatly outweighed by the depth of the tub. It takes forever to fill because it holds so much water. This tub is going to be great for my three little muchkins under the age of 7 to keep them from flooding the bathroom floor with every bath.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great tub I am very pleased with the tub. I also got the matching surround. Really, the hardest part was getting the old cast iron out and prep of the space for new fixtures. Instructions were excellent. After install, it feels so solid – almost like the old iron one. It took two of us to drop into place over a bed of mortar. Put it on very level surface so no shims needed. I just had to shim between tub and studs. This was the 2nd tub I have installed and the easier of the two. I really like the surround with it. Really can’t leak the way it is designed -- just locks into place.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The DIY Tub. This tub was so simple to install; easy to move (light weight), durable enough to handle construction (great protective liner, that comes with tub), great instructions. I even called customer support, and asked a few questions, beyond the instructions (just wanted to confirm how I read them). Their support was superb, answered the phone in less than a minute and answered my questions even quicker. The tub is probably the simplest tub to install for a DIY project. This was my first tub to ever install, and it turned out great! It looks beautiful. I would recommend this tub for anyone is scared of attempting this project on their own (or with their wife as a helper). Had to throw that in there, since she helped quite a bit. We didn't even have one argument throughout this remodel...hard to imagine. Anyway, love the tub and thanks for the quick arrival for our bathroom remodel.
