Rated 1 out of 5Â by ExtremelyDisatisfied Manual says it can playback 4 channels and yet it can only handle 1!
Imagine trying to review playback from 9 cameras 1 at a time! Not only is it 9x more time consuming, it's so much worse than that.
If you are trying to sync up the views to get a better sense of what's going on well ... how good is your memory? You can't even switch channels to view another camera at the current playback time. It send you back to the original start time instead!
Reminds me of the story of 3 blind men trying to describe an elephant

Rated 1 out of 5 DVR9-4200 lacks more than one channel playback
I purchased a Swann DVR-9-4200, I was happy with my older DVR 2600. This DVR9-4200 will not playback more than ONE channel at a time. SO you have to review each channel to see if someone was trasspassing or whatever. That is 8 times too many and waste LOTS of my TIME. Please get a New FW rev to fix this issue ASAP.

Rated 2 out of 5Â by Turbobob Issues with the camera controls. Manual is incorrect for the Search: Playback section.
As for the camera controls, the joystick control for important camera settings such as noise reduction, etc., settings that are not available in the DVR software, are located on the camera side of the cable, and not on the DVR side of the cable (60 foot cable). Makes it almost impossible to get to the joystick control if the camera cable is buried in a wall or in a mounting box, and the viewing screen is by the DVR 60 feet away.
I was able to overcome most of this issue by setting up all of the camera and DVR settings by plugging in the camera directly to the DVR, then making the adjustments in my basement for day and night images.
Page 33, Search:Playback states up to 4 cameras can be viewed for playback. As the others have reported, this is not true. Only ONE can be used for playback at a time, as reported in other reviews.
At first , one support person said up to 4 could, but the recordings had to be continuous, not motion detected. I tried it and it did not work.
Then I sent an email to Support, and received the message that it was a typo and the playback only supports ONE camera, regardless of how it was recorded.
I replied to that email stating they better change that entire page to reflect exactly how it should work, and make an addendum to the manual and contact all owners with the updated info. There should be an update sheet on the CD to reflect any errors, typos, mistakes, etc that are in the printed manual. Maybe that was the way they intended it to work, but never got around to correcting the manual to reflect the way it actually works.
Let's see if we get some kind of response for these issues.
The software is easy to use and the camera quality is fine. Overcoming some of these obstacles takes patience.
I will write a more positive review for this product once these obstacles are overcome.
