Answer:
clogged lines or dead batteries, if neither then it is defective, holes not cut out properly during manufacturing process. It is a common problem with the wetjet.

Answer:
There are a 3 possibilities I can think of.
1) you did not install the 4 AA batteries required to run the sprayer, or you installed them incorrectly
2) you did not install the bottle of cleanser or you installed it correctly
3) it is broken
If 1 or 2, correct the problem(s), otherwise I suggest you return it.

Answer:
OK, my first answer was wrong. It DOES require 4 AA batteries, but the battery compartment is directly above where the bottle goes. There is an "Open" switch that will open the compartment. You have to install the batteries BEFORE you plug in the bottle.

Answer:
It needs 4 AA batteries. I had the same problem; there are no instructions with the starter kit.
The battery compartment is on the body, and unscrews with a Philips screwdriver.

Customer Reviews

Rated 3.6 out of 5 by 346 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by You get what you pay for This product performs as advertised, it cleans up "normal" messes on floors quickly and easily. It is not designed to be "man-handled" or clean industrial waste. You shouldn't expect a $20+ plastic product to perform like a $50-$100 product. If you press hard enough on it, it will break. But if you don't overdo it the swiffer will last a reasonable amount of time (our last one lasted at least 4 years). The sprayers (require 4 AA batteries - not included) work ok and the pads pick up a lot of dust, dirt, and gunk. Replacing the pads is quick and easy. Pads are available at several retailers, including the discount warehouses. August 17, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by worst purchas ever the wet jet handle fall off all the time .You can't even go in a straight line . the bottle of floor cleaner is too heavy for the handle. I am going to throw it out. October 16, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by quality control issues. not all wet jets are created equally. one of the jets is inoperable, if possible test the item at the store before you leave, this was my second issue with the same product (i purchased one from staples as well), the one i purchased from lowes had no issues. Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Design flaw After having to replace 3 Swiffer WetJets due to the handle cracking in the exact same place (right near the spray button) I decided enough was enough and bought an alternative product. It's as if they purposefully designed the handle to break after several weeks of normal use so you either have to try and splint the handle, or buy a new Swiffer. When it works, it works okay. When it breaks, what a waste. July 20, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Works! Uses little effort to clean tough spills that have dried. July 21, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good product The product was fine when I finally got it. The store computer showed ten in stock, but someone was finally sent to another store to get one. I think someone should address the inventory problems. May 5, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by easy and fast clean-ups on til and wood floors In using this product, I have found that the time saved is enormous, it makes it quick and easy for tile and wood floors...we love it April 28, 2015
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Designed poorly, as the handle snapped mid-use So I've enjoyed the Wet Jet for some time....until, the handle snapped at the bottom of the trigger spot while mopping. I've also experienced the metal tube to "unclick" at the seam where the button is to lock the tube in place. I'd give the Wet Jet a glowing 5, but won't until these design flaws are fixed.
