Rated 3.1 out of 5 by 15 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good Quality playset! A person that isn't very handy with do-it-yourself projects may be a bit overwhelmed when they first open the box of components. There are lots of parts! My set didn't come with the 60 pages of instructions but I was able to download them from the Home Depot website under the play set product. The instructions were very detailed and most sheets were in 3-D view so you can see what parts were in the back, behind and sides of the piece that you were assembling. I thought the instructions and diagrams were very easy to understand. It was stated that it would take 2 people about 12 hours to assemble. I did most of it by myself in about 40 hours, but it requires two people to erect the two decks and to install the larger roof section. Once the 4x4 vertical posts are up and the deck boards secured then 1 person can do most of the remaining installation. The box was missing a few parts so plan on buying some additional screws and other small parts. I also modified the plans some to allow the 4x4 vertical posts to be more easily leveled by attaching them to two level horizontal treated 2x6's and then attached each post with steel anchor ties set in 6 concrete post holes adjacent to each 4x4, which took me an additional 8 hours to accomplish. I also added a knotted rope above the climbing wall which was a great hit with the little kids. It is easier for them to get started on climbing the wall. The Timber-Glove protective wrap for the 4x4 posts is a good idea. I haven't seen that before. I encountered difficulties with 2 of the 4x4's that were wet and a bit larger than the others, which made the protective wrap hard to fasten with the Velcro strips. My wife assisted with that task. It is easier to lay the posts on a table while attaching the wrap so you don't wear out your knees on the ground. The play set looks great and is now very solid and will last for years. You can download the instructions prior to buying the play set by going to the Home Depot website for this product in case you want to see how difficult it may appear to you. If you don't understand the plans then you'll have difficulties during the installation. All in all this is a good quality play set. If you plan on erecting the set for a birthday party I would suggest starting it at least two weekends prior to the party. The most important part is to check each bundle of wood parts against the packing list and MARK A PART NUMBER ON EACH BOARD. This will save you a lot of time later on when searching for a board by a specific part number during the assembly. Good luck and your kids or grand kids will enjoy it! August 27, 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by COMPLETELY RUSTED, 3 yrs This was a time consuming project, both go-rounds. The major problem we have is that the set is 3 years old and the brackets have completely disintegrated, making this a dangerous playset. The company was kind enough to replace the parts, however fixing the problem requires dis-assembling the set and putting it back together (and hoping that it doesn't suffer the same fate in another 3 yrs). Even the screws have corroded through, which accounts for a lot of movement in the set when 3 kids are swinging. And for the replacement set: ONE BRACKET SHORT. SO, I would NOT recommend this set. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by bad instructions This product has poor workmanship thoughout. Product was labeled wrong or not labeled at all. The pre-drill holes were way off and cutting will be involved. Some wood was poor and already cracked. The instructions were hard to read and there were errors in the book. They also supplied a yellow correction book for the bad instructions that was missing info. I consider myself a handy person having built numerous structures.....this playset will require 3-4 weekends and it will need cutting even though the instructions say "no cut". April 18, 2011
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Good product, bad instructions The finished product is great but getting there was a hassel. The instructions are just plain bad. I am very good with building things and I had a hard time figuring out what to do, when to do it, and how it should be done. There were no labels on any of the boards, no labels on any of the bags of hardware, and I found it took more time to figure out which pieces to use than to actually put them together. The 4x4 wraps with the extra strip are horrible. Would it not be easier to make a wrap to fit than make two pieces? May 15, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Not enough screws and instructions were horrible... I must admit first, the play structure is very nice and the kids do enjoy it, however it has taken 3 adults (1 is a carpenter) to put this together in a total of 16 hours. The instructions had been changed at some point so there were insert instructions however the measurements didn't add up on the swing area. We ended up having to measure on our own and move the bracket over. The instructions also didn't do a very great job at specifying which screws are used where only the length and we were short about 20 screws to finish the roof. I would really suggest to the manufacturer that they actually make the box bigger and put the 2x4's inside to replace the legs of the ladder and the monkey bars as they were very flimsy and hard to drill thru such a thin piece of wood. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Lots of work The Sky Tower said it took 8-10 hours. Maybe for Bob Vila and his three brothers. It went together very well, but did take a few more hours than stated. I started off by water sealing the wood and then separating it by piece (highly recommended). We also used anchors bolted onto the bottom of the 4x4's to add stability. Everything went pretty good after that, but having a third person definitely helps. Would recommend to anyone that wants to have some summertime fun for their kids. April 30, 2011
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Extremely time consuming The materials are great but extremely hard to put together. We started Memorial Day weekend. It took 4 of us, 2 who are skilled carpenters, and in 3 days we only got the middle completed with the slide (no roof, no monkey bars). It took another weekend to do the swing part and another to do the monkey bars. It is now September and we have not tackled the roof yet. This is a major project and I wouldn't buy it unless you are a carpenter and have tools and LOTS of free time. September 7, 2011
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by not hard to put together I would have had this put togther in a shorter amount of time if the pieces would have been easier to identify as per the stamp that was on them identifying which piece is which. If there were the proper amount of screws for the project. I had to purchase additional screws in order to complete. Overall an easy install minus the two problems I have addressed. I would recommend this to a friend but caution them to the purchase due to the issues I had with it. August 7, 2011
