how does it connect to my ATV hitch receiver

picture says pin hitch. i have a 2" receiver for trailer hitch
Asked by: rona
It connects with a pin that drops down through the hole. It is a very bad design(you can read my review about what happened). I would fabricate your own attachment.

How big of a riding mower would be needed to pull this attachment?

Asked by: Kirk
I got mine a couple weeks ago and pull it with a Cub Cadet, Kholer motor and 52 inch cut. It gives me about 7 feet cut with a small overlap. Not sure of my h.p. but it must be 20 or so. The Cub Cadet is a 2006 model and the side cutter doesn't slow it down very much.

Customer Reviews

44 in. 11.5-HP Briggs and Stratton Rough Cut Trail Commercial Tow Behind Mower is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 18.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Swisher does the job Despite how difficult it was for me to unload this product because of where the trailer arms were stored in the crate, the actual use is great. The product cuts the tough high grass and weeds and small saplings. I really needed to do that to a new pasture I established but could not cut with my regular mower because of some left over stumps. The stumps were basically eaten up by ants and replaced with anthills after four years of not being mowed but once by a bush hog I hired. I really wanted my own equipment to do the job my way. My lawn tractor is only a 17.5 engine that I took the mowing deck off of it and have been towing the Swisher behind. The Swisher gets caught on the big anthills and in some of the high thick stuff but I am always able to get free and keep mowing with it. Once this first cut is done I expect the next few will be a breeze with the Swisher. I just recommend a little bit more power in the towing vehicle so that getting over the anthills is very routine as well. It is a little bit stubborn about starting with the pull starter, but it will start after a couple slow pulls as long as the key is put on run on the controller. Don't forget the key on run. It really is a very handy product and I am so glad I did not have to purchase a tractor and a bush hog for this job. I used to own those and really was not pleased with the time it took to change out implements and the awkwardness of the mowing process. Switching to a lawn tractor later on, when the pasture was tame and smoothed out was a great improvement to the grass and the process of mowing. This new pasture will become just and smooth and easy to cut later on with the help of this Swisher. Great product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent addition to my pasture battle every spring! I have been using my 1956 Ford 850 with a 5' bush hog to mow my 5 acre pastures. Tired of the time it took and constant maintenance I decided to go with a swisher rough cut tow behind mower to pull behind my ATV. Product arrived early, uncrated, checked fluids added gasoline and started on first pull. Have used several times now and have not had the least little issue with the unit. And riding on an ATV sure beats the heck out of riding on a 50 year old tractor.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from missing parts, flat tire upon arrival and broke after 1 hour of use. The trailcutter arrived with a completely flat tire, and missing bolts needed to attach the hitch. The tire could not be fixed (its tubeless) even with a can of silicone sealant. The Swisher trailcutter failed after 1 hour of use. At first it appeared to be a simple thrown belt (a common problem with Swishers), but upon closer inspection, it was missing a spacer, resulting in the disintegration of an important bearing, which caused the belt to dislodge. The replacement bearings and spacers have arrived and I will attempt repairs. To date, it has run for 1 hour, and had (1) a completely flat tire (upon arrival), (2) missing parts (bolts and a spacer that resulted in a failure of bearings and belt). I will repair and hope nothing else is wrong. I have spend an additional $170 on replacement parts. The Swisher customer service is non-existent. This swisher does have some nice features - if they ever work. The blade engage control that can be mounted on the hitch is nice. The swing hitch also works well (for 1 hour). If I can get this contraption working, it might be OK. A friend has an older model and it works well! This one is a total lemon so far.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does the job! I've put over ten hours on this machine and it has worked great for me. It has taken down 8' weeds, saplings, briers and other mess and totally destroyed it!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great machine Bought this unit to cut tag alders on roadsides where we moose hunt. This machine far exceeded our expectations. Keeping in mind that we had to make 4 passes we completed about 8 miles of road in a 9 hour day. Machine is a beast. Driven pulley nut wasn't torqued right from the factory and it did some damage to the pulley and bearing. Did a backwoods repair and worked it for another day. When we came back town I called and got all the new parts under warranty. Drawbar is a tad weak but once you get the feel of pulling it with a quad there is no issue.
