Customer Questions & Answers

What is the part number for the battery?

Asked by: Bushes76
You'll want the UI-7 if you can find it but just a UI will work. You can find it at Auto Zone, Advance Auto or Auto Craft. If whatever you bought didn't fit, you bought the wrong battery. You'll want the little bitty ones that would fit in a small child's atv or quad. Measure the space for the battery, should be about 5" x 3", then get the battery. Core charge is $8.

What kind of bumper hitch do I need for this mower

44" rough cut
Asked by: ron
You'd need a pin style hitch. I purchased a combo hitch for my quad that had both the pin and ball hitches on the same unit. It is very handy as I have several implements I tow behind the quad and some are ball, some are pin. This way, I don't have to change the hitch every time...

Do any of the electric start rough or grass cuting machine come with a pull start as well?
Asked by: Randy
The only rough cut machines that have both recoil and electric start are the WBERC11524 & WBERC11524C.

Haveing trouble with trying to mount the battery. It does not fit with how the mower came

Asked by: Goofy
You bought the wrong battery. You need the UI battery that would fit in a small child's atv or quad. Auto Zone, Advance and Auto Craft have these. I don't know about Interstate. ' The space for battery in your mower is correct. It only has to turn the mower on. The measurements are about 5" x 3" wide. If you can find that, the core charge is $8.

44 in. 14.5-HP 500 cc 12-Volt Briggs & Stratton Electric Start Rough Cut Trail Cutter Commecial Tow Behind Mower is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 18.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from So happy to have this It's heavy, does a great job cutting. Super easy to start. I have marshy terrain with many different types of vegetation growing. It was able to keep up except where there was standing water and the cat tails are so thick. The only problem we had is we used a pin hitch on the receiver of our ranger and with the constant bogginess it was pulled hard at times to prevent getting stuck. It ripped the metal receiver. A friend of ours cut off the end, welded a ball hitch on and reinforced it so it turns easier and can take the heavy towing. Definitely recommend having someone put it together instead of doing it yourself.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from So far, so good. Have had it a couple weeks and have put it to the test already. It mowed my 5 acre pasture with ease, and it hadn't been mowed in several years... (I just bought the place) I also bought it to cut some trails into the 20 acres of woods that came with the property, pulled behind my quad. It does really well on even ground but tends to get hung up in uneven terrain. I think it could benefit from larger wheels in this regard. It also doesn't turn around very easily. Often, it has to be completely unhooked and turned around by hand, which is a pain but if you know this ahead of time, it's just part of the deal. Love the electric start and the power. It mows thick stuff with ease. Seems sturdy.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from My review Ok, this is a good bush hog for what it is. I gave it (3) stars for two reasons. One, I like the electric start but would like the pull start option too. I hope the starter never goes out. The other reason is, I can't believe they didn't put wheels on the front. The slightest dip on the ground and the front digs in. You WILL have to put wheels on the front of this thing. You Will need a 4-wheeler to pull it, don't even think about using your mower. If the grade is 30% or more, you will need a 4x4. I do think this is the best model. 14.5hp and cuts off center so you can stay out of the brush after your first cut. Nice for cutting around edge of pond but bolts will loosen after awhile. Pull straight on if your cutting acres of land and don't want to keep tightening bolts. It does great for what I need but is no substitute for serious 6ft acreage bush hogging.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The beast So far so good. Any thing the Honda 400 Foreman can go over and knock down the Swisher will eat up. Have not got stuck yet but have a 3500 LB. winch on the ATV. Wanted a JD 3038 but know it will get stuck in the woods and is way over priced. Still might go for the Deere it can dig ,till, mow , pull, & drag. Haddock Georgia.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does what it says Have a 3+ acre meadow my riding lawnmower could handle but the ride was horrible...bought this to keep it mowed and it does it in 1/3 of the time without a hiccup. Well made - seems like it will last - although I doubt I'll use it to its full potential. Does NOT mow in a finish cut - if you want that buy another machine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better than expected I read all the reviews on this on both HD and Amazon so pretty much knew the weak points from the get go. Modified & reinforced the tow bar to use a 2" ball hitch and did a better job of controlling the wiring. I've been using it in rough, steep, mountainous terrain in the front range of Colorado mowing down scrub oak and underbrush. It has performed excellently and is much more rugged than I expected. To clear we chainsaw all the scrub oak bigger than 2" or so, then pull the trail cutter through it behind a Grizzly 700 ATV. Basically, if the Grizzly can get over it, the trail cutter will knock it down & mulch it. The engine rarely bogs down no matter how heavy the brush. Keep in mind, I'm not cutting tall grass, but scrub/gamble oak and undergrowth. YMMV. It does have a few week points. First & foremost is that being a two wheeled towed mower, when pulled with an ATV, it is very hard to back up. As you reverse, the rear of the ATV lifts up which lifts the tow bar and subsequently causes the rear of the mower deck to drop near or to the ground. Since the minimum mowing height is about 4" that means the rear of the mower deck digs into the stumps you've left behind and stops you from backing up. It is a problem no matter what the cut height of the mower is but may be a bigger issue for me on varied & steep terrain than it is for someone mowing flat ground. To address this problem I'm going to add roller wheels to the rear of the deck like you'd see on belly mounted riding mower. The other thing I wish it had was an ability to control the throttle and the mowing height from the ATV, but obviously that's going to add a lot of cost. Bottom line: this thing is worth every penny I paid for it and is an incredible time saver. I've uploaded a few pics. 1st & 2nd gives you an idea of the conditions and is a typical path through scrub oak & underbrush after being cut with the trail cutter. Last photo shows an area after big trees were cleared of anything over 3" in diameter and then mowed down with the trail cutter. I know the ATV is in the way, but it does show what the trail cutter is capable of over a bigger area.
