CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 3.0 out of 5 by 2 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Working better than expected!! The night it arrived we had pouring rain... So great time to fire it up and see how it performed on waist high wet grass! It never slowed or bogged down and cut as good as you'd expect for soggy conditions. Beyond that I've been mowing down vast stands of super thick wild rose bushes. Totally amazing on how the rehab area is looking today. Two minor design comments: Based on reviews from others I chose not to use the provided wing nuts to attach the starter/blade engagement mechanism to the hitch. Instead I used self locking nuts. Also you need to place this far enough back on the hitch so the 4x4 fender does not disengage the blade in a turn. Second is that I had to fabricate an extension to my 4x4 hitch to prevent the vertical bar (part of the height/leveling adjustment) from contacting the 4x4 muffler. Looking at my other 4x4 the same problem would exist but would hit the battery. Design solution would require moving the height adjustment back towards the mower. June 14, 2012
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by buyer beware The cutter arrived nicely crated. The instructions for installing the tow bar could benefit from including some illustrations. Keys are provided but nowhere are you told where they are to be used. I discovered it by accident. I added gas and went to start it for the first time and the pull cord would not budge. I called Swisher and they said you have to call Briggs and Stratton if there is a problem with the motor - Swisher doesn't warranty it. I called Briggs and Stratton and they gave me the numbers for 2 authorized repairmen in my area. I called them and they said I had to bring it in as they are not authorized to make house calls. Since it took a large freight truck with lift gate to deliver it, I would need same to bring it to the repairman. I called B&S back again and they said that's right, no exceptions. Or I could pay the repairman on my own to make a house call. So basically, Swisher is saying 'tough luck if it arrives broken because we won't cover getting it working'. So users beware, you will be left out there dangling with a huge expense if anything goes wrong. Luckily, Home Depot was there to bail me out of this. Never again, Swisher! September 21, 2012
