Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Billiebob Quality product, exact replacement.
Name brand product made in China, it appears to be a quality product. Exact fit except. the ON/OFF lever does not line up with the slot in the valve cover.. The lever on the replacement is a different configuration than the original. Had to use the original lever.

This was a direct replacement of an existing mixer valve. I merely replaced the guts of the old valve with the new one so that it was not necessary to un-sweat the old valve.

I installed this valve with relative ease – it just required sweating on two fittings and then screwing the valve body to them (but this is the way other valves in this class work). However, when I tested the valve, by opening and closing it, it wouldn’t shut off completely – water kept coming out but with a reduced flow. This was problematic as it required me to turn off the main water till I could get a replacement – which was the next day! Fortunately, the replacement worked.
The valve is designed in such a way that its action is binary: it’s either completely on or completely off. When it’s not connected to a washing machine, this can be quite jarring because it opens up to full blast immediately, and, when it closes, it shuts off with a giant BANG! (This can’t be good for the rest of the plumbing in the house.) Admittedly, this doesn’t happen when a washing machine is connected – because there’s little or no flow when the valve is actuated – but having nothing attached should also be a valid operating condition. And, it appears that the shutoff mechanism uses rubber washers, which I feel will be damaged by the violent action, and which are much more likely to wear out over time than, say, a Teflon ball valve (which is what’s used in a competing product) would.
It will be a while before I get over the fact that I had to have my main water off for an extended period of time due to a defective part from this company. And, I’m still uneasy about its ability to stop the flow of water if one of my hose connections should break – which is its main purpose. Either I’m missing something or this valve is poorly designed.
