Customer Questions & Answers

Can I get a storm window for this ?

Asked by: Wayne11
You can buy a Seperate Outside Storm window, est. $75-$100 and thus end up with 2 Window system ..( If having them installed, double the cost for installation ) Would probably be better off in both cost and Installation costs & Same if not better R-Insulation value,to just buy the American Craftsman 70 series window for approx. $130-$150 Comes with a Double Glazed window , Screen, etc. thus all in one window No Need for a storm and if want an added Insulated system? Add the Am. Craftsman Single Low E Glass Storm Window for another $90 More and you 'd have equal to a Tripple pane Window System .

What is the actual required rough opening for this window?

Asked by: Andyo
Just to help you in future, right under the picture of the window are a bunch of tabs. Look for the one called "specifications" click on it and it will take you down the page directly to that section. On the right see * Rough opening height 30" and * Rough opening width 24"

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Window for the price Hard to find a single hung window with integrated J channel. Window works well for the shed I built. The rough opening dimensions were not provided so I made them ½" larger than the window size as described with other Tefco windows. I would recommend only ¼" as it does not leave a lot of area for the nailing fin. There was easily ½" of adjustment on all sides between the rough opening and the window. Luckily my rough opening was true and I did not have to shift the window to plum it so it did not cause a problem. Works well. The screen is a pain to remove but I do not plan on having to remove it until a screen change is needed. Ordered 3 and all were satisfactory with the only blemish being one nail fin corner tip was broken (only ¼" piece) but that was not a shipping problem and did not affect the installation of the window.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good product for what it's for A single hung single glazed window has a limited use in the energy conscious US today. I had got a garden shed installed that we wanted as an overnite cabin for visiting grandkids and a retreat for my wife who is a writer/poet and a visual artist. An unheated artist's retreat wanted more light than the standard garden shed - these windows were a good answer. They installed easily like any window with an installation fin and operate easily and include an insect screen. For my purposes, the rating should be 5 stars, but I understand most users would not be looking for a limited product like this, so 3 stars for an inexpensive product that does the minimum asked of it excellently.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A good window for barns and garages I purchased 6 of these windows online. I received them by UPS 3 days later. They were well packed, no damage and they are now in stalled in my barn. They look great and work very smoothly. I am extremely happy with this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent for value-based applications I fully agree with the other reviewers in that this is an outstanding window for the price. I installed this window in my 12x16' barn, and could not believe how nice the window was! Nothing about the window feels cheap, especially the lock, which is of greatest concern to me. So now I am planning to replace the windows in my workshop with these. These windows are for new construction, not replacement; but I will be cutting larger holes and removing siding as necessary to install these windows properly. All the siding will be replaced soon thereafter. I will add to one reviewer's comment about rough opening...yes, the tolerance is quite tight between the rough opening and frame holes. If you leave the 1/4" tolerance as instructed (please do), then cut carefully to ensure that you leave good material to hold the screws.
