This LED Globe bulb is the perfect replacement for the incandescent version. It is actually a little brighter than the 40 watt incandescent bulb and can be used with a dimmer if desired. It does not require warm up time to reach full brightness as does a CFL. There is a barely noticeable half second delay, but no noise or flickering as with some CFLs. This bulb looks just like an incandescent globe bulb, not like a "pigs tail" or "curly fry" and consumes only 5 watts each for 40 plus watts of light. That's 30 watts consumed for 240 plus watts of light for a six bulb light bar. Can't beat that.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by JJJCC I'm shocked!
I consider myself very picky about lighting around my house. I ordered 6 bulbs for a bathroom vanity based on the reviews that I read online and I am very happy with the output quality. These are very close to the real incandescent bulb color, slightly brighter. I haven't received my electric bill yet as I am converting most of my bulbs to LED's, so can't comment on the savings yet. I do know I WILL be ordering more for my other bathroom vanity.

These bulbs are brighter than the 40 watt regular bulbs that I replaced in a light bar in our bathroom. That only took one day to get accustom to. I did install a dimmer switch and that works well. The bulbs will only dim about 3/4 the way before they go completely out. I don't really think that a dimmer switch is necessary. I just wanted to see how well it worked out.
Just remember, these bulbs are an investment and WILL more than pay for themselves. I'm buying more LED bulbs for other high usage areas.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Douglas Only 300 Lumens, But Still A Great Bulb
The packaging of this dimmable G25 globe style bulb shows 300 Lumen rating.
Bulb still seems a bit brighter than 40 watt soft white incandescent type, when side by side.
Nicely balanced light diffusion, without harsh bright spot in the center that other LED bulbs can have.
Not uncomfortable to look at bare bulb, like some LEDs are.
Dims easily to 50% (my lowest setting) without any buzz or hum in 12 bulb fixture.
Short ramp up to full brightness is pleasant on eyes.
Priced less than CFL globe bulbs, which take a while to warm up to full brightness.
Best globe-style LED for the price I have found so far.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by OldHandyMan Humming has stopped!
I have 2 bathrooms which each has a long bar vanity light system, 1with 14 bulbs and the other with 16. They each had older dimmable switches installed with older bulbs in them when we purchase the home last year. I switched out the bulbs for CFL's (big mistake) I had a humming sound that started from the bulbs so I put in a CFL/LED rated dimmer switch but still had humming. I tried dimmable Cree brand LED's but still had humming. Only now that I have installed these TCP dimmable bulbs has the humming stopped! Magic at last! A bulb brand may make the difference.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by XTron1 Not as advertised, but ok
Experience with Home Depot was great. These bulbs are advertised and labeled as 2700k "warm white". I have other LED bulbs that are 2700k and they are quite a bit warmer than these. I would say these are more like 3500k. I am going to live with them, but I was disappointed that they were quite a bit "cooler" white than I anticipated. If this is an issue for you, I would buy a different brand.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Roadrunner70 Makes light, not heat
We use these in both bathrooms, four to the room, with Leviton Illuma Tech dimmers. Full on, they make noticeably more light than the incandescents they replaced. The dimmer control alone won't take them down to complete darkness but they transition smoothly and will provide very low lighting--an excellent night light that allows nocturnal use of facilities without having to turn them up. During the day, we set the dimmer slide to mid-range and use the on/off switch. They work great!

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by larrywil Excellent LED bulb
I was looking to replace some old 40 watt incandescent bulbs with these because the LEDs are so efficient and don't give off the heat that incandescent bulbs produce. I discovered that the "40-watt equivalent" LEDs are much brighter than the old 40 watt bulbs I replaced. I got 8 for about $65 dollars on sale. I think they are pretty pricey when not on sale - something like $20 each, which is too expensive, in my opinion.
