Product Overview

The TCP 9 Watt (50 Watt Equivalent) Daylight (5000K) PAR20 LED Flood Light Bulb is suitable for indoor and outdoor use in track lighting fixtures, recessed can lights and security lighting. It boasts light output of 600 lumens, which can be diminished thanks to its dimmable capability. LED technology allows this lamp to stay cool so it won’t heat up recessed spaces or intensify surrounding temperatures and it has a longer lifespan and consumes less power than traditional incandescent bulbs. It has a PAR20 shape with a medium base that screws into standard-sized light sockets, producing bright light equivalent to that of a 50 watt incandescent bulb while using only 9 watts of power.

  • Brightness: 600 lumens
  • Estimated yearly energy cost: $1.08 (based on 3 hours/day, 11¢/kWh; cost depends on rates and use)
  • Life: 22.8 years (based on 3 hours per day)
  • Light appearance: 5000K (daylight)
  • Energy used: 9 watts (equivalent to 50 watt standard incandescent light bulb)
  • Lumens per watt: 66.7
  • Dimmable for customizable light
  • Contains mercury: no
  • Ideal for use in track, recessed and security lighting
  • LED technology is a prudent choice for hard-to-reach fixtures, as its long life expectancy keeps replacement chores to a minimum

Customer Questions & Answers

Can I use this bulb in a Kenmore Elite range hood with 3 light levels?

The original bulb specification is a PAR20 halogen 50W maximum. I know this bulb will fit in the socket, but will the low, medium, and high light levels work properly?
Asked by: Paladin
Well, I'm answering my own question. Since there was no guidance here, I decided to try it, but I purchased the comparable product that my local HD carries in stock rather than ordering these TCP lights. The in-stock brand were a little more expensive, but I figured they would be easier to return if they didn't work as expected. The Kenmore Elite range hood was in our home when we bought the house a year ago. The lights have been a constant source of trouble. The incandescent bulbs installed by prior homeowner were too hot, burned out quickly, and were hard to replace. It was necessary to disassemble part of the hood to get the bulbs out of the sockets. The sockets were partially melted, I think because there were 60W bulbs instead of the recommended 40W. I had unfortunately replicated this error. Also, the steel retaining spring clips were worn, so the sockets didn't stay mounted correctly in the hood. After realizing the problem, I bought a new socket and wiring harness assembly from the manufacturer, which was easy to install. The LED PAR20 lights look and work great. Much brighter light and no excess heat. I chose the 5000K lights for a whiter light, which is perfect for a task light, although we prefer the 3000K (or lower) for most room lighting. The three light levels on the range hood work great with the dimmable LEDs. There is a very faint hum on the reduced settings, but it is not audible over normal kitchen activity - you have to stand quietly to hear it. Overall, the socket repair and upgrade to LED cost about $90 and worth every penny.

50W Equivalent Daylight (5000K) Reflector PAR20 Dimmable LED Flood Light Bulb is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 9.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Almost perfect !!! I have over 50 halogen PAR20 flood lights in the ceiling of my home. I tried CFL flood lights 3 years ago, but they don't really work as floodlights. I tried this bulb and the EcoSmart LED bulb that Home Depot also sells. This one is AMAZING !!! This bulb spreads the light over the surface of the bulb similar to a halogen (the EcoSmart just has a small central area that the light comes from). The light is SO white. It appears to be twice as bright as a halogen. I took out my Minolta light meter to quantify the difference. It is actually the exact same brightness as a halogen. The light is just so white !!! Much more pleasing to the eye than the yellow light of a halogen. The power savings is amazing !!! The only two improvements would be (are you listening TCP?): 1) Make the bulb about 0.4" shorter. It is currently about that much longer than a halogen. ALL of my ceiling fixtures are designed for the 3" halogen. These fit, but the bulb is much more visible than a halogen and blinding to the eye if looking at the ceiling. 2) Make the entire outside surface of the bulb (where the light comes out) smooth glass like a halogen. Since I have these in ceilings that are up to 12 feet high I use a suction cup on a stick to get the bulbs in and out. These are not held reliably by the suction cup since only a small ring at the outside is smooth. These are definitely better than the EcoSmart (the suction cup does not work at ALL on them). We will see if they last as long as claimed. I am starting out with just 10 bulbs (two bedrooms & one bathroom,). When I do the master bathroom that is another 10 bulbs !!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bright Lights Oh My We lived 30 years with no light or fan functioning in our Range Hood. GADS. Well we got so bold and put in an induction countertop range and of course a new hood with lights. The hood is great, but did not include the light bulbs. Well, so be it. I ordered these and am very happy with both the light and efficiency they provide. I also appreciate they don't add heat to the area where my head would be as I cook.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from excellent choice for kitchen ceiling light! We purchased three mini chandelars for the kitchen and needed a light to illuminate the glass mantel as well as put lots of light on the counter top. This LED light was a perfect choice. It gives a whitish glow to the glass mantel and puts a very bright spot on the counter top. Jim
