Product Overview

The TCP 9 Watt (50 Watt Equivalent) Daylight (5000K) PAR20 LED Flood Light Bulb is suitable for indoor and outdoor use in track lighting fixtures, recessed can lights and security lighting. It boasts light output of 600 lumens, which can be diminished thanks to its dimmable capability. LED technology allows this lamp to stay cool so it won’t heat up recessed spaces or intensify surrounding temperatures and it has a longer lifespan and consumes less power than traditional incandescent bulbs. It has a PAR20 shape with a medium base that screws into standard-sized light sockets, producing bright light equivalent to that of a 50 watt incandescent bulb while using only 9 watts of power.

  • Brightness: 600 lumens
  • Estimated yearly energy cost: $1.08 (based on 3 hours/day, 11¢/kWh; cost depends on rates and use)

  • Light appearance: 5000K (daylight)
  • Energy used: 9 watts (equivalent to 50 watt standard incandescent light bulb)
  • Lumens per watt: 66.7
  • Dimmable for customizable light

  • Ideal for use in track, recessed and security lighting
  • LED technology is a prudent choice for hard-to-reach fixtures, as its long life expectancy keeps replacement chores to a minimum

Customer Questions & Answers

Can I use this bulb in a Kenmore Elite range hood with 3 light levels?

The original bulb specification is a PAR20 halogen 50W maximum. I know this bulb will fit in the socket, but will the low, medium, and high light levels work properly?
Asked by: Paladin
Well, I'm answering my own question. Since there was no guidance here, I decided to try it, but I purchased the comparable product that my local HD carries in stock rather than ordering these TCP lights. The in-stock brand were a little more expensive, but I figured they would be easier to return if they didn't work as expected. The Kenmore Elite range hood was in our home when we bought the house a year ago. The lights have been a constant source of trouble. The incandescent bulbs installed by prior homeowner were too hot, burned out quickly, and were hard to replace. It was necessary to disassemble part of the hood to get the bulbs out of the sockets. The sockets were partially melted, I think because there were 60W bulbs instead of the recommended 40W. I had unfortunately replicated this error. Also, the steel retaining spring clips were worn, so the sockets didn't stay mounted correctly in the hood. After realizing the problem, I bought a new socket and wiring harness assembly from the manufacturer, which was easy to install. The LED PAR20 lights look and work great. Much brighter light and no excess heat. I chose the 5000K lights for a whiter light, which is perfect for a task light, although we prefer the 3000K (or lower) for most room lighting. The three light levels on the range hood work great with the dimmable LEDs. There is a very faint hum on the reduced settings, but it is not audible over normal kitchen activity - you have to stand quietly to hear it. Overall, the socket repair and upgrade to LED cost about $90 and worth every penny.
