Product Overview

The TCP 17 Watt (90 Watt Equivalent) Bright White (3000K) PAR38 LED Flood Light Bulb is suitable for indoor and outdoor use in track lighting fixtures, recessed can lights and security lighting. This lamp is equipped with an internal aluminum reflector, which amplifies and concentrates light in a central area. LED technology allows this bulb to stay cool so it won’t heat up recessed spaces or intensify surrounding temperatures and it has a longer lifespan and consumes less power than traditional incandescent bulbs. It has a PAR38 shape with a medium base that screws into standard-sized light sockets, producing bright white (3000K) light equivalent to that of a 90 watt incandescent bulb with a brightness intensity of 1050 lumens.

  • Brightness: 1050 lumens
  • Estimated yearly energy cost: $2.05 (based on 3 hours/day, 11¢/kWh; cost depends on rates and use)
  • Life: 22.8 years (based on 3 hours/day)
  • Light appearance: 3000K (bright white)
  • Energy used: 17 watts (equivalent to a 90 watt standard incandescent light bulb)
  • Lumens per watt: 61.7
  • Lighting application: indoor/outdoor; ideal for use with track, recessed, and security lighting
  • Dimmable: no
  • Contains mercury: no
  • Saves more than $200 in electricity over the lifetime of the bulb compared to an incandescent lamp
  • LED technology is a prudent choice for hard-to-reach fixtures, as its long life expectancy keeps replacement chores to a minimum

The 2700K version is in the pipeline. It will likely be less expensive.

Customer Reviews

90W Equivalent Bright White (3000K) PAR38 LED Flood Light Bulb is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great outdoors lights. A brand you can trust and use for years! I have done extensive testing of PAR38 outdoor bulbs. I many styles and brands that Lowes and Home Depot offers. These bulbs seem to have a 45 degree bulb angle, but there is a good amount of side lighting from the main beam. The light has a slight yellow hue like real incandescent lights. They remind me of the GE incandescent lights I just replaced. I am happy with them. I just wish they provided more flood lighting and less direct beam. But they are fine. I have used the TCP led lighting elsewhere inside my home and I have been very happy. The bulbs are reliable and provide consistent lighting. These TCP bulbs are low profile and lightweight compared to the other bulbs I tested. They turn on immediately. No flicker. No problems. As per usual with LED lighting, these TCP bulbs provide bright lighting. They are labeled as a 90 watt replacement, but they are truly as bright as the 120W GE incandescent bulbs that they replaced. From Home Depot: I also tested the Philips Outdoor PAR38 - Model 435008. These bulbs were fine except they are not flood light. They are spot light and do not work well for flood lighting outdoors. I returned them. From Lowes: I tested the Viribright 18-Watt PAR38 Medium Base Cool White Outdoor LED Bulb Item #: 549313 Model #: 73533-C. These bulbs have a 95 degree bulb angle which is great. But the light is dim and not bright. Although the yard was completely lighted, the light was dim and reminded me of CFL lighting. These bulbs are heavy. I returned these bulbs. From Lowes: I tested the Viribright 18-Watt PAR38 Medium Base Warm White Outdoor LED Bulb Item #: 549313 Model #: 73533-W. These bulbs also have a 95 degree bulb. But the light is rose colored and not bright. The yard was covered in a rosey/pink colored hue. It was okay looking but still dim. These bulbs are heavy. I returned these bulbs. In all, I am happy with the TCP PAR38 LED bulbs. I hope this review has helped.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Early On Assessment I wasn't too familiar with the TCP brand but based on cost and the existing reviews I figured I'd give them a shot. I was installing them in recessed cans on a 14' ceiling in my kitchen. These had a solid plastic housing covering the back which concerned me with heat dispensation and a textured plastic lens that seemed cheap and useless. I replaced 2 halogen 90 watt BR40 bulbs that kept overheating and shutting off. With the Halo cans I was able to adjust the depth of the can socket to line up with the trim kit perfectly as Par 38 has a shorter neck than a BR40 bulb. Once I flipped the switch I was honestly amazed...they came on immediately, and with a 3000K spectrum they radiated a clean crisp white light that is gentle on the eyes yet doesn't distort other colors like a warm 2700K spectrum or the institutional harsh white light that you get with the 5000K daylight spectrum. That cheap textured lens, well it seems to have a purpose after all: it assists in diffusing the light to illuminate in what I would describe as a perfect middle ground between a wide angled flood and a narrow beam spot. As I have only been running these a couple months I can not speak to longevity but for lighting I can't wait to replace the other 80+ can lights in my house to radiate their perfect light throughout my entire home!!! Now these lights are not dimmable which it stated in the description which was what I wanted so just make sure you are buying what you want because they also make these dimmable for a buck or two more a piece. Quality I gave it 3 stars only because with the cheap non-recognized brand appearance I question the longevity which time will tell, but for the money they are the cheapest I could find and for the cheapest I could find they perform better than I ever expected!!!
