Answer:
You will need a wireless network, and the TCP gateway connected to your network. The software for your phone and tablet allows you to control each bulb separately, or grouped, such as by room. One Gateway can support up to 250 bulbs...Each bulb or bulbs grouped in a room can be named to identify them. You can control each bulb separately, or or control them as a group by room.

Answer:
This is the link to the hub that's sold individually:
http://www.homedepot.com/p/TCP-Connected-Smart-Gateway-600GWB/204487577
Or you can buy the Smart bulb kit which includes the hub and 2 bulbs:
http://www.homedepot.com/p/TCP-Connected-Smart-LED-Light-Bulb-Starter-Kit-with-2-A19-LED-Dimmable-Light-Bulb-CCG2LD11/205132274
Yes, as long as they are TCP connected bulbs.

Answer:
The TCP bulbs require "TCP Gateway" with a 10baseT network connection to your home network. The Gateway is like a custom wireless router that communicates to your TCP bulbs, through your home network.

Answer:
Yes you cannot connect to them without the hub. It is on it's own wireless network. You connect through the network in your house to the hub and the hub wirelessly connects to the lights.

Answer:
I would assume that if the A19 bulb was in a weather proof housing, and within range of the TCP Gateway signal, it could be use outside. I have not used any of these bulbs outside yet. If I remember correctly TCP has a "Flood light: bulb that is rated for outside use...

CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 3.5 out of 5 by 10 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nice product I installed these Daylight (5000K) bulbs in three rooms, and have had good results. They were easy to install and set up, they can be controlled from my iPhone, and iPads for anywhere. The software is easy to set up, and quite versatile. You can control each light individually, or in groups by each room. The local remotes also work well. The dimming feature works extremely well, and programmed feature lets you set up on and off times for each light. The prices for the bulbs are inline with current LED bulbs, and that makes these an even better bang for the buck...I have had these installed for about two months now, and they have worked as advertised. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Pay now save later Amazing,I just bought the two light kit, installed the app on my wife's & my cells,an tablets in a very short time,we work two different shifts,so before I was turning lights on before I left 4 hours too early so the house would be lit up for my wife, now with a touch of a button we turn lights on @ the right time,an the cool part is it doesn't matter how far,it works from anywhere, and one kit can control up to 250 lights,I'm definitely adding more lights. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by TCP connected kit Installation was as easy as . . . screwing in a light bulb. I have sporadic connection problems. . . all of the lights don't always stay on - but it's easy enough to turn them back on. I just have to remember to check when I'm away. . . I also have the Wink app (not the hub) - and it works well with TCP's bulbs. They no longer maintain their web site, so you can't use a computer or laptop to control your system. The App works well on my phone. December 15, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Does not work Alone As "J876" says This does not work alone! I have the Wink Hub and wanted to use it to control the two bulbs. No where on the TCP box does it say you need to have the $70 TCP gateway hub. Im returning the two lights I purchased, very disappointing. Also why did so many reviewers here give thumbs down (not helpful) to J876 and Gottlich review?? I found this very helpful, I only wish I would have discovered sooner that this product does not work alone. December 21, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Smart Lightng will be the future of home lighting I love my smart light bulbs. It is wonderful being able to turn off lights from your bed without having to go down stairs to turn it off. My daughter gets up in the middle of the night and leaves the hall lights on regularly. I used to yell to her to turn them off or get up and turn them off myself. Now I just reach over to my Galaxy 4 and turn them off with a click. Only thing to be aware of is that these DAYLIGHT bulbs are BRIGHT WHITE and very different than the other TCP Connected bulbs I purchased. The other bulbs (??8K possibly??) look much closer to standard bulbs in coloring. I had to switch things around so I didn't have two bulbs of one type in one room and two bulbs of another type. It was easy to switch the bulbs around in the TCP software though and I put the two extra white bulbs in the hallway and move the other bulbs from the hallway to bedroom fan so the fan bulbs all matched in coloring. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Does not work alone! The "Wink Ready" logo might make you think you can use this directly with your smartphone using the Wink app, but this is not the case! You must have the TCP gateway ($70) as well. That aside, the light was bright and clear, and would probably be nice if you wanted to pay the extra $70. August 15, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Works locally but not remotely. So it only half works. The app does not work remotely and the WINK will not pair with it because the TCP servers do not exist. It has been a week and no access to remote servers. Returning because I doubt this will ever be working. Sad when a product does not work as advertised. August 15, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Added to starter kit The smart light system is a great way to control your lighting from anywhere in the world. I will probably continue to expand on this system. August 26, 2014
