They do not carry the remotes regularly in home depot. I called TCP and asked if I could get a remote, and they said I have to go to the service desk at Home Depot and tell them to order it. I waited about 3 weeks for it to come in, but I got two of them.

Answer:
I don't know. They ordered it online for me. Perhaps if wireless controlled light bulbs and/or fixtures continue to increase in popularity it will be stocked locally. If however such systems remain a niche market item, then most likely it will still have to be ordered on demand. At least at my local HD, I had to order the TCP Connected flood bulbs as well, they were not on the shelf.

Customer Reviews

Connected Wireless Remote Control is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 29.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from *Ultimately* great! I now understand why the other reviewer noted that he/she followed the directions on the HD site to set this up - mine arrived in a plastic bag - no packaging, and no instructions. I examined it carefully because my first thought was that HD sent me a refurbished unit! I titled this review *Ultimately* great because the first 40 minutes were very frustrating due to lack of instructions. Like the HD help document states, you need to hold down the 1-4 button as well as a black button near the battery to sync your remote to the gateway. There is no feedback that the remote and gateway are synced after doing so. Then, you use your app to edit each individual light - in that screen you'll be prompted as to whether or not you have a remote, and you assign button 1,2,3, or 4 to that individual light. Easy now - but when I first played around I inadvertently created a "fixture" that incorporated all 4 of my room's lights - they worked fine with the remote, but I lost all my Smart Control settings. Took a while to figure out how to delete the fixture and get my smart control settings working again. Now that the device is all set up, I'm very happy with it. The remote is smaller than I expected, and has a quality feel. You can assign your bulbs to any of the 4 numbered buttons - I have all 4 of mine (same room) assigned to button 1. In the future, I'll add another bunch of bulbs to another room, and make that button 2, and so on. One disadvantage of this is that all 4 will be dimmed at the same rate doing this - so if you have a smart control with differently dimmed bulbs, not sure how this can be accommodated, unless you assign the bulbs to different buttons. But then, as you expand, you only have 4 buttons to control everything - it does not appear that if you add a second remote you'll be able to assign some bulbs to one remote, some to another (goes back to the frustrating lack of any documentation on this device). Two nice features - first, if you walk up to the remote and press the power button, it will turn on/off the room you last used the remote for - you do not need to press '1' first and then power. The second is that if you do press '1' first, the power button light on the remote will reflect whether or not the lights are on in that room - helpful for example if you take your remote to another room - you can tell whether or not the lights are on or off by looking at the remote. Ultimately, I'm very happy with this remote - since not everyone has an app in my house, I was reluctant to add more bulbs because it is a hassle accessing an app every time you walk into a dark room. With the remote, it's no different from a regular room - with bright, dimmable, easily controlled lights. If you have any remotely controlled lights, I really recommend getting this.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great addition to TCP system. I love my remote and it is a great addition to my system. Following the instructions linked to here on the home depot website it was very easy to pair to the systmn. The one thing that I find it lacking is a mounting option so I can connect it to the wall. A trip to home depot found many ceiling fan remotes that come with little plastic holsters than can be easily stuck to the wall with command strips. However I did not find any holsters for purchase separately. The associate suggested Velcro. It is an acceptable solution but not the most attractive and my previous experience with Velcro have been less than stellar. But for know a black VELCRO square on the wall and the back of the remote will do.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from TOO SMALL TO HOLD ON TO, SHOULD HAVE INCLUDED A HOLSTER FOR EASY ACCESS. A FRUSTRATING EXPERIENCE, JUST TO SET-UP A REMOTE CONTROL (NO INSTRUCTIONS WHAT SO EVER). FINALLY HAD TO CALL TECH-SUPPORT, AND THEY WEREN'T SURE EITHER, HAD TO CALL ME BACK! THIS HAS BEEN MY OVERALL EXPERIENCE WITH "TCP" PRODUCTS. PASS THE "WHAT IFs", "WHY or WHY NOTs", "HOWCOME?" ... THE PRODUCT DOES WORK WELL, ONCE SET-UP PROPERPLY AND IT IS STABLE. DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THEY WOULD MAKE A REMOTE SO SMALL WITH TINY BUTTONS. FOR THE MONEY CHARGED, WE SHOULD HAVE ALSO BEEN GIVEN A WALL MOUNT HOLSTER FOR EASIER ACCESS TO OVERCOME THE TINY SIZE OF THE REMOTE.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Addition to TCP Lights I had no problems getting this up and running with my system. I did do some reading online before I made the purchase, so I had a pretty good idea of how to set it up before it arrived. I've also had 5 of my 7 TCP lights since last summer, so I've had time to play. This is a very nice addition to my system. I have no problem using my cell phone to operate the lights, but my (non computer aged) parents visited for the holidays. They did just fine with this remote.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from TCP Lighting In general, I liked this product. However, it can be challenging for the non-techie. I purchased a hub and a number of lights. The bulbs can become troublesome trying to keep connected. The remote itself is really no trouble other than knowing the associated zones (1 = BR, 2 = LR, 3 = Kitchen, etc). I also purchase the Wink Relay which was cool and the Nest, which I really like, but it is all about the settings. Learn it and you will be fine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice addition to TCP wireless System This remote is a nice addition if you have an existing TCP wireless lighting system. I find my self grabbing this remote to control the lights instead of trying to fumble through my iphone to find the app. It can control 4 zones and was simple to add it to my existing system. Features: On/OFF/Dim

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great little remote...!!! I have installed the TCP remote control LED Bulbs in three rooms, and they perform very well, both from my Mac's and from the iPhones and iPads. This remote works just fine too. The TCP lighting system is easy to set up and configure, and the remote is just another tool to use with it. I will say that the instructions for setting up the remote could be more clearly defined, but once you understand how to configure the remote it's very simple and easy to do. I would recommend the TCP lighting to anyone who has a computer network set up at home, and has some basic technical knowledge.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does what it's supposed to do, but I can think of at least one improvement. These remotes paired easily with my existing TCP setup. What I really needed them for was the small kids who don't have the smart phones. I mounted these near the light switch on the wall plate to remind people not to flip the switch, but so we could control the lights from the traditional location. I used masking tape to mount to the wall plate and this has worked fine. The only issue is that this is not exactly the intended use. If the remotes took button cell batteries and were flat instead of rounded on the back, this would work much better. You sometimes don't get the button pushed because of the rotation when you push on the side as it only contacts the wall in the middle. This is the only real change I would make to the device.
